I was visiting Chaing Mai for a month of study, a woman traveling alone. Initially I read reviews for B2 and while they were older mediocre reviews, I didn’t book here. After arriving and staying in another hotel across the divided highway for a few days, I realized this hotel had everything I needed for a longer stay in the village of Su Thep. This hotel was a grand dame in her day, with a massive bright lobby complete with lots of seating space, two people at the front desk and security. Staff were helpful, gracious and friendly, in spite of our having different primary languages. My room faced the mountain in the back and was large and clean, complete with a hot water kettle, and a large refrigerator/freezer. What set this hotel aside for me, with an extended stay was the space-a full closet with shelves, shelf space over the fridge and a counter with cupboard for kettle, plus drawers for clothing. For a single night or two this wouldn’t be as important; for a longer stay it made a huge difference. I was able to settle in and make myself at home. It’s is not a new hotel, and yet it’s charm and character were more important for me. Setting this hotel apart is the newly reopened massage service next door, and a newly reopened restaurant, Noor, next to that. It offers a lovely cool indoor restaurant/bar with a typical Thai menu, as well as an outdoor patio in a lovely tree covered area, complete with water fall. The 7/11 and Lotus grocery shops are a short walk.

Used to be a nice hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel many many times and always been very pleased with the cleanliness, level of service and attentiveness of the staff. This time however, we were quite disappointed. We stayed in their top tier room, but did not get top tier service. We were refused extra towels to go swimming with. The pool was not clean or taken care of. Our travel companion was refused new sheets in her room after showing that the set on the bed had lots of hairs on them. The hot water heater for the bathtub in our room was not working and it took them 3 of our 5 night stay to figure out it needed replacing. The room was significantly larger than the regular rooms, but with no furniture to fill it. A large living room area with no table or other usable furniture to make the space practical. The level of upkeep has declined drastically. The only answers we got to our inquiries was : "this is our policy". Sadly this was our last stay at the B2 Premier.

Disappointing

I booked one of the top-tier rooms, a presidential suite. Other than being twice the size of a normal room, there were no additional amenities. It was not even decorated well. A few minutes after checking in, I noticed there were hairs on the pillow and sheets on the bed. I asked for the sheets to be changed. A cleaning lady came to the room, picked the hairs off and told me the sheets were already changed. She pointed out the crisp ironed folds in the sheets as evidence. I made note of a small stain near the foot end of the bed on the fitted sheet, but did not mention it to the employee. Throughout my five nights staying there, I continued to check the sheets each day, looking for the small stain mark. They were not changed my entire visit. And after sleeping in them five nights, those ironed creases were still there. I had gotten some ink on my hand the third day of my stay, and had washed my hands and dried them on the hand towel. Every day the towels appeared to have been changed, as they were folded and stacked on the shelf above the bathtub. I did notice, though, that there was blue ink on one of the hand towels as evidence that it had not actually been changed, but just re-folded. When I mentioned my concerns to the staff, I was simply ignored. The polite Thai smile was all I got in return for my complaints. I do not plan to return to this hotel.
