About this property

Large Andalucian Farmhouse, stunning views, pool & gardens, close to Natural Park

This impressive Andalucian farmhouse, located in an elevated position, amongst olive and almond groves, has the most stunning views. Overlooking the valley, across white-washed villages, the scenery stretches across to the Tejeda mountain range. The farmhouse has been a family home for many years and in the process, has been lovingly restored yet has retained many of its original features. The rooms all have the traditional beamed ceilings, many with terracotta floor tiles, open fire places/wood burning stoves, decorative wrought iron lights and beautiful wooden doors. 'Modern' and 'comfort' have been sympathetically introduced and the farmhouse is furnished in an ecclectic fashion including antiques along with modern necessities. The large farmhouse kitchen is the core of the house, along with plenty of rooms to relax, watch tv and read. The bedrooms are all prepared with fresh linen and towels, are spacious and airy and again all have spectacular views. The outside of the property is a delight and is an important part of a normal holiday enjoying the pool, gardens and views. The mature gardens with mediterranenan trees, flowers and shrubs is a beautiful feature of the property. There is an outside kitchen with fridge, oven and hob close to the small courtyard area finished in local stone which is cool and shaded. There is also a large gas BBQ. The terraces are extensive, the main one surrounding the pool and has sun beds..Here there is also a gazebo with shaded dining/seating area and also plenty of room for the table tennis table. The other side of the house also has another large enclosed and secure patio ideal for younger children. It has Moorish arches, plenty of shade, seating areas and panoramic views.
The private drive to the property is shared by another private property which is located in the grounds of the farmhouse also with its own private pool and gardens.
Colmenar is the nearest local village and has good tapas bars, restaurants, local shops, weekly fruit and veg market, banks, butchers, bakeries, chemist, 24 hour medical centre etc.
Our farmhouse is an ideal location if you also intend to explore this beautiful area. The main dual carriageway heading inland or to the coast is only 10 kms away. Historic Granada has the famous Alhambra Palace, Malaga has its Gibalfaro castle, Cathederal, new Muelle Uno marina with great shops and restaurants and the old town has traditional tapas bars. Also a huge selection of restaurants from simple to 1 Michelin Star, Picasso Museum, small boutiques etc. Cosmopolitan Marbella with its beaches and Orange Square, Nerja with its famous Balcon de Europa, Burriana Beach, Ronda with its bullring and gorge, Cordoba with its ancient Mezquita to name but a few. Lots of other beaches and shopping centres are all an easy trip and the airport is approx 30 mins.

Wonderful stay in a stunning property
We had a wonderful week in this large property with stunning views over the andalusian countryside, only 10 minutes away from the pretty village of Colmenar. How marvelous to sit by the pool and watch the awesome scenery! Inside, the house is full of charming little sitting areas with lots of character in addition to the main sitting room. One week is not enough time to use them all as well as all the outside sitting areas. Angela is a very attentive host that will do everything in her power to make your stay more agreable. From there we went visiting all the main town like Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and Ronda. Plus Comares, closer at hand. We kept Seville for the beginning and end of our stay as it is further away and that was the town of arrival and departure in Spain. We would have loved to stay longer, this was such a lovely place. Thank you Angela.

Colmenar Tranquility
If you want the hustle and bustle of the big city, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to get a taste of rural Spain, then this might just be your oasis. The farmhouse is large and can accommodate a big group. There are multiple areas both indoor and outdoor to congregate. The views from the patio are beautiful at all hours of the day or night. The outside propane grill was a big plus for us. When we ate at the farmhouse, we cooked on the grill and ate at the outdoor dining area. There is a small pool for cooling off and many lounge chairs for relaxing and sunbathing. Our biggest problem was finding the farmhouse upon arriving in Colmenar. The location is 5-10 minutes from the village of Colmenar up the winding and narrow road to Solano (just a side note: if you are unfamiliar with Spain, all the roads in the villages and rural areas are narrow). You will be about an hours drive to Malaga and a little more than an hours drive to the the beaches at Torre Del Mar and Nerja. If you like to sleep in, be forewarned that there are roosters on and about the property. They will let you know when dawn is breaking. All in all, we had a very relaxing stay in Colmenar.

House was nice, but attached to another property and has a small pool
The positives - the house is nice, has a charming rustic feel, aircon in most bedrooms, in a nice location with good views and Angela was welcoming and helpful when we needed to find a doctor (ear infection). The negatives - the pool is around 4m by 7m, and around 1m deep which was a disappointment for us; we were also surprised to find we couldn't use the patio with the best view as its the roof of the attached properties kitchen; the wifi is out of range from the pool area as the walls of the villa are so think; the access road is not for the faint-hearted and there were a lot of wasps (but Angela organised someone to come and spray towards the end of the week). Overall we still enjoyed our week there, but I felt the price and description of the villa were out of keeping with what we found

Stunning views, peaceful and relaxing.
We had a lovely stay here and enjoyed the extra things for the children like the trampoline, tree house, slide, chickens and ping pong table. There was so much space that it was very comfortable for us with four children. The house was very clean and well looked after. The track leading down to the house is not ideal as it is very bumpy and steep but the surroundings made up for it. Would highly recommend and we hope to come back in the near future.

Avispas, a granel.
