1. Precheck in was technically flawed. On a phone it required an impossible signature and on a laptop the url didn't work. 2.There was a bat colony in our room and the staff were unable/unwilling to remove them. I removed 4 over 2 nights finally getting to bed at 11.30. 3. The tap was leaking. 4. Internet only at reception not in our room. Extraordinary meanness in a quality hotel. 5. This was the most expensive hotel in our trip to Tasmania and it was not value for money. Overall this was a poor experience and not to be recommended.

The room was disgusting, blow flies dead and alive, smelly with terrible rotten odour. No air conditioning, no tv, no wifi, no phone, no hair dryer, no fly screens. My wife in a wheelchair could not leave the room due to soft gravel and pot holes to access reception. Restaurant was closed (Sat night). We refused to stay and left after 30 minutes and drove to peppers silos in Launceston where we were greeted and treated with good typical Tasmanian hospitality. For a thousand dollars a night I feel we were totally ripped off. A total refund and apology is the least we can expect but would still not protect the unsuspecting guests that may stay there in the future.

My room was super clean and surrounded by wildlife. I also booked a treatment at the Waldheim spa as well as two times the private sanctuary (at it was just stunning). The crew over there was so so nice. Especially Senna who gave me lots of nice recommendations about the area and north east of tassie. A wonderful and absolutely unexpected breathtaking stay! I also loved that you can spot platypuses in the lake at the lodge.

Our cabin was spotless, comfortable, and spacious, and the wood fireplace efficiently heated the room. The bathroom is also generously proportioned with a corner spa bath. The wet area at the entry is a sensible addition. We were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff at every opportunity, and we even indulged in a hot rock massage at the Waldheim Spa, which was a very luxurious experience.

Our cabin was delightful. Spacious and comfortable, with a real wood fire and a spa bath. The lodge is lovely. There is a large, inviting reception area with comfortable seating and board games, etc. There are two dining options on site: a fancy restaurant and a casual tavern. We enjoyed the fancy restaurant, and I appreciated that they let my son order from the children’s tavern menu. Wooden boardwalks connect everything on the site, so you can meander from cabin to lodge easily.

Whilst in a national park, it's hard to keep up appearances, although this is a tired lodge. The grounds are literally falling apart; the roads around the lodge are full of potholes, and maintenance seems to be a low priority. The rooms lack wifi (like it's 2025 eh) and the food is poor for the prices paid. It's average and we fortunately paid the high price for the top rooms, where talking with out guests at least we have a tv to watch in our room when the weather turned bad. Modern conveiences seem to be removed and whilst the nature experience is also all about the destination and tranquility so is modern conveniences expected. I would not return to this lodge.

This resort is massively overpriced. Staff disinterested and overheard using foul language about guests when they thought they were alone. Accommodation is aged and poorly serviced. No wifi or telephone connectivity. No television. There are other options and I recommend you look into them if visiting Cradle Mountain

I'll start off by saying the location is absolutely incredible. There is wildlife and lots of great walks in the area and easy access to the park. We enjoyed sitting in the lodge with a drink and enjoying the fire or playing chess. However, the Cradle Mountain Lodge seems to be resting on its laurels and banking on the fact that you don't have many accommodation options in the area. I'm sure this place used to be nice but it is badly in need of updates to justify it's price. The bed was one of the worst I slept on all trip. All springs. The pillows were flat as well. There is no TV or WiFi in the rooms and mobile service only if you have Telstra. The rooms haven't been updated in years, and while clean and tidy, it shows. They even still have single pane windows throughout the property. The redeeming qualities of the room were the fireplace, views outside, and a complimentary little hamper with wine and snacks on arrival. That unfortunately is the only freebie you'll get. As for on site amenities, the shop is extremely expensive. Make sure you buy anything you want in your room ahead of time. Especially wine. The bistro was nice but expensive, the breakfast was ok. The private spa is amazing and one of the reasons we originally came here years ago. In the past you would get a welcome glass of champagne and some snacks with the pricey experience, but these days even after paying $205 for 90 mins, those little touches are both extra now. Final thoughts, ice with a big *
