Conveniently located opposite Derby Railway Station, the Aston Court was perfect for an overnight stay en route from London to Sheffield for a weekend with friends. The only minor niggle I had was the lack of air conditioning, which is likely to be an issue during warmer weather, but for the price I paid compared to other hotels in Derby that was a fair trade-off. The staff I dealt with were all friendly and professional and I'd definitely stay at the hotel again. Sadly I didn't get a chance to have breakfast at the hotel, so I'm unable to comment on that.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and definitely the best part of my stay. The room was clean but there was a strong smell of cleaning fluid inside and it was too noisy outside to have the window open.

The bedroom and stairs had nice new carpet. The room was let down by the bathroom. The shower was over the bath and had a stained shower curtain. Ventilation in the room wasn’t great. It was really hot. Fire door at the end of the corridor was wedged open and therefore would not have provided any protection in the event of a fire.

OK for the price, very close to the railway station, our room (std double) was quite small, had breakfast the first morning which was OK, room was overall clean, but a couple of small points the fan in the bathroom was dirty, and dusty, and the room overall could have done with a duster being run over it.

Ideal for the station. The under rated gem.

Fantastic hotel ideally situated for the Railway station. Not much to look at from the outside but don't let that fool you. Our room was gorgeous and recently refurbished to a high standard.

Staff on my arrival was good, young man training on reception. A bit poor on my departure young lady didn't ask if my stay was ok or not. Spacious room good size bathroom. Shower wash hit & miss as sometimes the water stopped and started. Good amount of sockets only problem none near the bed.

Beware the car park!

Beware the car park advertised as ‘free’ on the hotel’s website actually costs £8 per night to park! When I queried this at reception, the receptionist told me it was an old website that is no longer used and I should be grateful for the good value as he used to work in London and parking was >£100 for 2 nights. When I looked in the room at the literature, surprise surprise the ‘old’ website is still listed! Aside from the car parking the stay was uneventful, the room was clean and tidy; the shower was ok but kept alternating between hot and cold. The area itself is handy for the station and a 20 minute walk at a good pace in to the town centre. I didn’t feel safe however in the evening here as a pedestrian; local shops were handy for soft drinks. I may stay again if the price was right but the main reason for staying here previously is the free parking as, without that, there are more competitively priced alternatives closer to the town centre.
