The Neighborhood:

Hilton, Shandwick and Balintore are the three villages of the Easter Ross Seaboard, often collectively referred to simply as "Seaboard". They blend into one another with Hilton the furthest north of the three, and home to The Hilton of Cadboll Standing Stone, a superb replica of the original Pictish stone which now resides in the National Museum of Scotland. Balintore has a shop, a pub, and a good restaurant. A couple of miles inland is Fearn Abbey, founded in 1238, while on the hillside above Shandwick, the most southerly of the Seaboard Villages, is the famous Shandwick Stone dating back to the years around 780 AD. Visit the famous Glenmorangie whisky distillery, go dolphin spotting, play a round on one of the many good golf courses or explore the area's pictish stones. Off the beaten tourist track, this coastline, with its beaches and fishing villages, makes the ideal seaside holiday for the whole family.
