The overall ambiance is exceptional. Unique but still comfortable and practical. The room was very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and had several hot and cold options, as well as many options for on-the-go. Customer service was excellent. One of my favorite hotels in the country.

Room was fantastic. Fireplace was beautiful and made the room cozy for our winter stay. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean and had an upscale feel (very spacious room with high ceilings and a cool ceiling fan/light)). Bathroom was spacious but surprisingly had just a typical shower/tub combo with a large shower head and hand held wand option - lotta counter space though. Amenities were nice. Breakfast was pretty typical of hotel food. Highly recommend spending a few extra dollars to stay here versus a typical chain hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed the spacious room, the eclectic decorating and comfort of the lobby and the breakfast at the Hotel Des Lux. We stayed on a quiet holiday night so would be interested to observe the hotel on a night with greater occupancy. On Locust St the right curb lane offers signage for temporary check-in parking, but to me and my car and I felt exposed to regular traffic on Locust. Could the city of Des Moines construct a bump out to more isolate that curb lane?

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The most aesthetically pleasing place I've ever stayed. Everything was perfectly clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Best hotel breakfast I've had since pre-covid. I would have expected to pay much more for how lovely this place is. Cannot recommend enough.

LOVED our room!! The fireplace made us feel like we were not in a hotel in the middle of downtown Des Moines. The couples massage followed by a dip in the hot tub was amazing! This hotel was so BEAUTIFUL (not your standard hotel)! The regular furnace/heat didn't work (kept kicking on but would shut off right away) but we were totally fine with using the fireplace. Thanks for a great place to stay, we'll definitely return :)
