The location of the hotel was perfect for our needs. It was walkable to the castle and to Temple Bar so it was easy to find restaurants. The room, while nicely decorated and clean, was very tiny and it was hard to move around the beds and there was not a place to put an open suitcase. We really appreciated the kindness of the gentleman who helped us with our luggage and called a cab for us.

We had a 3rd floor room with a corner window, I noticed the room had a draft and we could hear the busses and people talking outside, as it’s a busy street we knew it would impact our sleep, we asked in reception to move however she said “we are fully booked, we can move you tomorrow” there was no apology or even concern to log an issue with the window draft. The next day we came back midday (out of our morning exploring) to collect the new room keys as instructed and after given the keys we moved out stuff to find the new room have not being cleaned yet. No apology from the staff about this either. The new room we found later that evening had a very noisy pipe (can’t make this up, we never have any complaints about anywhere we stay but this was just one thing after the other) When checking out we weren’t even asked how our stay was just the room number and then said goodbye. We didn’t try the breakfast so can’t comment on that. The location was amazing and everything you need walkable but the rooms and service we had issue with.

The room was extremely small, could only access bed from one side, so in the middle of the night needed to climb over my wife to get out. Our room was above the bar and was extremely loud. Great central location easy walk to many attractions.

The Mercantile is a recently renovated property, so everything is fresh and new. Rooms are a tad tight, but my understanding is that is to be expected. There isn’t much of a desk, and someone made a poor decision to glue their in-room phone right in the center of the little desk area there is. Bed was comfortable but the pillows are a little tough. Rooms were soundproofed so you don’t hear much outside, and they have great climate control/ air conditioning. Breakfast service could use a bit of work in its execution and organization, but they’ll get there. All of the staff, from the front desk to the bar, are extremely friendly, kind and helpful. Lovely bartenders that know how to pour a pint of Guinness (very fresh and good). I’d have ate there more if the pub offered a discount for the hotel guests. I would recommend staying here if you’re looking to stay in temple bar. Beautiful spot.

Nice stay in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. Close to a lot of dining and shopping options. Walkable to most everything else, including Trinity College/Book of Kells, St. Patrick Cathedral and several large churches, Dublin Castle, St. Steven's Green park, Grafton Street, and more. We especially enjoyed The Temple Bar Pub. We took a hop-on/hop-off bus to see more of the sights that were further away. For those of us not really up on Irish history, the Kilmainham Gaol is a must-see.
