I had booked for a 3 night stay but left after check in - the room I was given looked fairly recently painted but had a strange smell and was filthy. Spurious stains on the carpet, food crumbs on all surfaces including carpets and hairballs on the floor. I don’t think the room is ever hoovered. I asked for someone to come and clean the room but was told housekeeping had left for the day and offered another room. This room was slightly (and I mean slightly) cleaner but decor was older and bathroom unacceptable. I returned the keys and stayed elsewhere. I was told I would be contacted but have not been so have ultimately had to pay twice. I expected dated decor but this place is uninhabitable. The building needs to be condemned. I do feel sorry for the staff though as this clearly happens all the time.

Was very disappointed, room was not clean, bathroom had bad stains. and noise from room above was totally unacceptable, children running and screaming to well after 11.30pm. We also ordered food in the bar and only half of my husbands order came, he asked for rest and they had to go and cook it, so when it arrived 1st half was cold! Mine was very small portion of spaghetti for an adult and tasted like microwave meal from supermarket. could have been so much nicer. Staff were apologetic . we left on 1st evening of our 3 night stay. would NOT recommend to others.

Disgusting hotel. We found an hairball in the bathtub, the flooring was loose and made a lot of noise. The door was flimsy and the balcony door was warped with a big opening which couldn't be closed.staff was nonchalant when we brought this to their attention.All the beautiful pics of the hotel on your site and maps is a hoax and doesn't represent reality. Our 25th anniversary ruined, Thanks

Off peak spring getaway

Can’t complain at all for the price paid for a double room. Soft sheets, hot water, spacious and facing the sun. This time of year though the rooms are difficult to heat and often found the corridors were warmer than my room! Winter duvets do the job fine but you won’t want to leave your bed until the sun rises!

Whole building needs renovating, felt unsafe, all floors not level, very cold feel to the all areas. Lifts needs replacing, not suitable for a big hotel. Had to change room due to cold, no radiator, dirty carpet. Second room wasnt much better.

Ive stayed at The Burlington Hotel every time im down on the south coast for meetings , from bexhill on sea to hastings but always choose this great hotel to rest my head after a long day , great staff , secure ,and just a proper hotel with much history .

Birthday Trip to Eastbourne

The hotel is in a good position by the pier and the beach. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was basic but perfectly adequate. The only thing that really let it down was the carpet in the room that was gritty and definitely hadn’t been hoovered. The hotel is a bit dated now but for the price we paid I was very happy with our stay.

Its a very old building so dont expect modern. The room for me was ok for what we was staying there for but ideally things like the shower could be bigger. Im average built and didnt have a great deal of room in there. Rooms where quite cold and you only get 1 pillow each and very soft. Overall tho not a bad stay
