We loved our stay. It’s basic, beds were comfortable and shower was great. Huge breakfast options included in our stay and was cheap! Bus right out the front but a taxi service was available through the front desk. £8 to the heart of Edinburgh. But can be walked in about 35 mins. Will definitely stay here again

Terrible Service and Outdated Policies

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was quite disappointing. The overall atmosphere didn’t feel friendly or welcoming—perhaps it’s more geared toward business travelers, but even then, the lack of basic hospitality was surprising. One of the most frustrating parts was that the bar does not accept cash at all. As a traveler from another country with daily card limits, this was incredibly inconvenient. I couldn’t even buy a bottle of water, as the rooms do not provide any complimentary water either. When I asked at the bar, I was told I couldn’t make a purchase simply because I only had cash. Thankfully, a kind stranger offered to pay for my water using her card. It wasn’t a matter of not having money—it was the hotel’s rigid and unaccommodating policy. On top of that, the carpet in the room had a strong, unpleasant odor—damp or dirty, hard to tell which. It made the whole stay feel unhygienic. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The service was poor, the policies unfriendly, and the experience far from comfortable. I definitely won’t be returning.

Terrible hotel. Booked for three night. Only stayed two nights couldn't wait to leave. Room very basic, All staff rude and unwelcoming. No food, no coffee machine. No shops or restaurants near bye to purchase any food. Absolutely terrible. Never been in hotel like it on my life. Will NEVER be back !!!!!!!

The hotel is probably priced as a cheap option but it is anything but! It’s about a 15 min walk to the city. 2 modern art galleries on its doorstep and a scenic walk from the river leith. As for the actual hotel it’s amazing!! From management to housekeeping,maintenance and front of desk and obviously the bar staff 😊 are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life and they go out and there way to help. Can’t thank them enough for making me feel loved

Bathroom was moldy, shower curtain ripped and filthy, towel rail missing, but one braket still there.floor was lino curled up and glued to wall. At the bar had to use the same wine glass all night ,as they were low on glasses.

We had multiple bad experiences from the very beginning. We got there at almost 4 which is well after the check in time, however our room was not ready for us for another hour. We were told there would be no room service or cleaning for the entire duration of our stay. The flush of the toilet was not working And the bed and pillows were exceedingly uncomfortable. The window was also broken. If you want a comfortable clean stay- I would recommend against this hotel

Bedroom with no window we were told on arrival.On a boiling hot day !!!! Toilet seat hinges,filthy.Bathroom bin lid missing,bath panel filthy Black mould on bath tiles.Bathroom light switch nowhere near the bathroom,other side of the room !!! Lift walls,filthy Entrance to hotel totally neglected. Won't stay here,again. Do not recommend this place

Not brilliant

I know it was Edinburgh in July but we thought this was an expensive rate for a hotel of this standard (£300 + for 2 nights). The hotel is as expected from the Britannia brand, a bit shabby, down at heel and unloved - could do with a lick of paint and decent furniture. Bedroom - I could have sworn I had booked a room with a window - but obviously not. Room was basic; it was a big room and could have benefited from sofa/couple of decent armchairs and lamps. However, beds were comfy and the shower was okay. We asked for extra pillows - never came; the wall mounted shower gel was empty - asked for it to be refilled in the morning - no problem. Got back in the evening - not filled. Went to reception and got a couple of tubes of shampoo and little soaps ‘chucked’ onto the counter. Some staff could do with a bit of customer care training but as he has just dealt with a queue of several complaints - hardly surprising; I’d have been a bit cheesed of and not enjoying my job much either. However, you get what you pay for (albeit a bit pricey) and it served its purpose. Would I recommend it - not really would I stay again - no, I would up the budget and find somewhere else.
