Family funeral

From the moment we arrived each and every staff member made us feel so special. Hana at reception was outstanding. She moved mountains to accommodate our early check in for us. This was especially appreciated by my father who is 86. Her compassion for our situation was obvious.

Good stay

Had a lovely stay however the rooms are looking tired and could do with an overhaul. We had a quiet room to the rear overlooking the car park. My sister had a better room at the front with brilliant views of the city. Theres a bus stop just outside and the zoo is next door so good location.

We have stayed at this hotel a few times before, on the first night we were lucky and got a good parking space easily, it was more of a problem the second night but we did get one. Our room was fine with a nice view of the hills over the flat roof part at the front of the hotel. The room was a bit warm and there was a noisy fan in the bathroom that never went off. The bathroom sink was very slow draining. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, there was a good range of items on the buffet but especially the first morning the food was cold but over cooked - I could hardly cut my tattie scone and the fried egg had a skin on the yolk like leather. There was no gluten free bread for my wife either morning.

Property is close to the airport and just in front of the zoo. A short 3 mile stroll to the city center or the bus stops right in front of the property. Parking is a little tight and limited, but we had no problems squeezing our tiny car into the spaces. The common areas of the property are updated and clean. The rooms were clean, but could use some updates as grout was missing in the bathroom, loose tiles, dust in the air vents, and mildew in the bathrom. Also the walls are thin, so expext to hear your neighbors conversations well into the wee hours. Other than that, our stay was great.

The public areas in the hotel are great - recently refurbished and modernised. The restaurant is good - and the children’s buffet was definitely a win. It was nice to have the pool, too. The accommodation rooms were clean but basic. They need a bit of an overhaul.

Initial room absolutely stunk of cigarette smoke. Window was open but smell was really strong. Room was unsuitable for use and should not have been allocated to anyone, before getting rid of smell. On telling reception they did allocate us a new room on a different floor.

Comfortable room, very good staff, breakfast was fine. I have deducted a star because I could not connect to the WiFi on any of my devices or the television in the room which meant I could not watch anything except live television

Tv missing majority of channels and unable to tune, room & bathroom really small especially for price. Bathroom door delaminating and large burn mark to dresser. Free car parking a bonus, but quite tight spaces. Love Edinburgh but won’t stay here again unfortunately.
