This street is home to the valuable museum system of the Musei di Strada Nuova, which links three important Genoese palazzi: Palazzo Doria Tursi (Palazzo Grimaldi Niccolò), included in the Palazzi dei Rolli, and seat of the city's municipal administration where the violin that once belonged to Paganini is housed; Palazzo Bianco (Palazzo Grimaldi Luca) where Caravaggio's masterpieces are collected; and Palazzo Rosso (Palazzo Brignole Sale Rodolfo and Francesco).

On Via Garibaldi there are also: Palazzo Lomellino Niccolosio (Palazzo Podestà) and Palazzo Pallavicini Tobia, seat of the current Chamber of Commerce.
