I really enjoyed my stay here and will absolutely come back the next time I visit Golden. It was a great value, I found it very comfortable, and I loved the view of the river and the ski resort from my room. Lodge + Lantern is a really neat old lodge that's in the process of being renovated. Some things in the hotel are new and modern (furniture, mattresses [very comfy], TVs), and some things are old and look a bit out of place (namely the carpet), but everything in my room worked perfectly. The rooms have some thoughtful amenities, such as fancy Nespresso machines, new mini fridges, and wireless phone chargers. I also really appreciated the high-quality sheets and towels. I'd recommend bringing ear plugs and/or a white noise machine though, as the walls are very thin and the noise insulation is minimal (which I guess is to be expected with such an old building). The lobby has a great common space with a classic stone fireplace, Sonos speakers playing relaxing music, comfy couches, and a big ol' TV (which ended up being a nice place to watch the Super Bowl). The icing on the cake is the location: a 12-minute drive to the ski resort and maybe a 10-minute walk to Whitetooth Brewing and a couple other cafes.

The Lodge & Lantern was going through some renovations when we were there, but when they’re done, this place will stand out even more. The staff was super friendly and attentive, available via text if not at the front desk (during off hours), the rooms were on the small side, but nice and clean with upgrades, views were good, and the lobby area always had a fire lit, so it was a nice extra place to hang out. We didn’t have a car during our stay, but this place was walking distance to town, we only needed a taxi to get the bus. The ski bus picks up from the hotel. Definitely recommend!

The tv did not work, called front desk about it, no maintenance staff to help, the receptionist came up to try and fix to no avail. Could hear the room above really loud, even walking across the floor above was noisy. At 4:00am doors all down the hallway started slamming closed, shaking the walls. So there was no such sleep that night. The room and bed were vibrating for what-ever reason, this also interrupted my trying to sleep.

Even though the lodge is going through some renovations, the rooms are clean and well prepared to make you feel special (for example, make-up remover and little vanity kit; slippers and robe; the coffee machine, etc.). The lodge also have a nice fire place and sitting area to enjoy it. All the staff is extremely nice and helpful.

This place was lovely. It was clean and very cute. We arrived late and they had given us clear instructions of how to get in without anyone at the front desk. It was very kind of them to follow-up.
