The property is in an amazing location! You feel as if you have your own little place in the jungle. Five minute walk to an incredible beach, as well. We stayed in The Hideaway cabin and I don't think the lounge chair pull-out was suitable as a bed for an adult, as it was quite uncomfortable. Other than that, I highly recommend this place.

A lovely hidden away treasure! Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this property situated in the forest. Especially recommend the walk down to the beach (as recommended by the staff) There were a few insects at dusk which were easily controlled. If your looking for a simple quiet place to stay this is definitely it!

Like secluded bush surroundings, peace and quiet location. Didnt like foot fall noise from upstairs apartment.

Loved the nature all around. I stayed in a dorm bed, but felt like I had space and plenty of facilities

Quirky Hideaway in the NZ Bush

Pros: Surrounded by wood, bush, and Wekas (NZ bush-hen)
Most hospitable -- fresh German style bread, home baked daily. Lovely bush walks between units. Near to a well formed track to an isolated wild coastline.

Nice hideaway cottage in the native bush.

All good apart from the shared kitchen facilities at te ruru lodge, two rings for up to 10 people which did not work properly.

Hostel accommodation - suits your needs

Pros: Kitchen facilities. Good price. Location
Cons: Clearly identify this is hostel when booking. Ensuite bathroom was like a fridge in winter - needs better insulation and sealing of doors and windows.
Location: Great walks and natural environment.
I did not realise from booking info and reviews that this was a hostel. Whilst I would not have chosen a hostel we enjoyed our stay here. Nice location in rainforest close to beach. Very artistic and alternative feel. Woofers cooking fresh bread and muffins for sale was a nice touch. Good fireplace and excellent kitchen facilities.
