Seasonal Lake Conditions
Lake Erie is a natural body of water and conditions can change throughout the summer. For a few weeks each year, algae blooms may occur, which can temporarily affect swimming and, at times, create an unpleasant outdoor smell.
The shoreline and lakebed are a natural mix of sand and rock, and conditions can change with weather and water levels. We strongly recommend wearing water shoes when entering the lake.
This is a lake-wide, seasonal occurrence beyond our control, and we share this so you can plan your stay with clear expectations.
A Few Helpful Notes
- The home uses a cistern and septic system — please use water mindfully.
- As with any lakefront stay, insects may be present indoors and outdoors.
- Please follow the simple hot tub care guidelines provided.
Pets
We welcome one well-behaved dog. Please clean up after pets, keep them off furniture and on our property.
Safety
Water, shoreline access, and use of SUP boards and the kayak are enjoyed at your own risk. Children must be supervised at all times outdoors.
Several life jackets and water shoes are provided, however guests may prefer to bring their own to ensure proper fit and comfort.
The property sits approximately 15 feet above the shoreline, and some areas are steep. Access to the water is via a ramp, which can be steep for some and slippery when wet. We recommend moving carefully and wearing water shoes when entering the lake.
The property is not fenced on the road side, children and pets should be supervised at all times.
An exterior security device monitors the driveway only.
Security Deposit
A $500 security deposit (credit card hold) is required prior to arrival. This is a standard hold and is released after check-out, provided there is no damage or violation of house guidelines
Check-in is after 4:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am. These times are strictly enforced out of respect for our cleaning team. A $100 fee applies to any unapproved early check-in or late check-out.
Water is limited at the cottage as we are on a cistern, so please be mindful of how much you use during your stay.
Quiet hours are between 10pm and 8am.
Only registered guests are permitted on the property. Pets require prior approval before booking.
Smoking and vaping are allowed outdoors only, on the driveway and at least 10 feet from all decks and buildings. All indoor spaces are strictly non-smoking.
Please follow the garbage, septic, and water guidelines outlined in the cottage binder.
