My opinion is influenced by recollections of what this property used to be under the former owner. It started out as a very upscale property (it used to be in the Relais & Chateaux group), and it was an "experience". I hadn't stayed here in about 15 years and now it's a clean, modern, friendly but completely non-descript, standard, property. It was a good value for the rate, and I would stay again.

Nice hotel just out of town near Ithaca/Cornell

We stayed here recently for a 3 day trip, our first trip to Ithaca and Finger Lakes area to visit wineries and hike the waterfall and gorge hikes. This is close to many great hikes and vineyards and Cornell University and Ithaca College. The hotel is older but has been nicely updated. It is situated outside of town on a quiet, large property. Our room was comfortable and nicely appointed. In the summer they have live music on Tuesday and Thursday nights. They have a spa which we did not use.

Fridge not working.

The refrigerator in the room we booked was not working. When we asked about it we were moved to a lesser room. Smaller bed and smaller room. We were told by the front desk that we should get a 50% refund. FYI, I’m a diabetic and needed to store my insulin in the fridge.

Not perfect but really nice and perfect location.

The AC in our room didn't cool properly and the room was so humid our paperbacks curled. The shower was constantly running so our bathroom was hot and steamy. The staff was made aware of this problem. It wasn't so bad we would ask for a different room but it was less than perfect. Otherwise it's a great place. The old charm is comfortable. We would return in a heartbeat.

I loved everything about La Tourelle! The location, the natural surroundings, the incredibly kind and thoughtful staff, the beautiful decor, the water stations so I didn't have to use plastic water bottles, the super comfortable mattress and bedding, the incredible array of interesting books in the room, the jetted tub, the balcony from which I could see a lovely pond and the gorgeous trees on the outskirts of the property...all of it was absolutely perfect! Big shout out to Jessica, working the front desk, she was so wonderful ~ kind, efficient, compassionate. Jessica, you're awesome! If I ever find myself in Ithaca, NY again, I will absolutely go back to La Tourelle!

A lovely stay

This was a wonderful property and location for my solo getaway. I enjoyed the grounds with the gazebos and easy trail access. The staff was friendly, although some seemed to be new and a bit inexperienced. Overall I had a wonderful time and would recommend to future travelers!

We stayed at La Tourelle while visiting Cornell University. We had a busy schedule, so we did not use many of the hotel amenities, but overall we were very pleased with our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful; we arrived very late to the property (after 3am) and there was still staff there to greet us and get us checked in. Our room was very clean and spacious and had a nice view of the grounds. Would definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

Location just before Ithaca is great. View overlooking Cayuga lake is special. Grounds were picturesque and relaxing. Nice touch with 2 nights of music.

The room was extremely loud, near an ice machine that sounded like an avalanche everyday at 6AM. Couldn't get much rest. Paper thin walls unfortunately. The "bistro" is closed, has been for a year, which I wish I knew prior to booking. There is just an onsite small bar with a limited menu of snack-like appetizers. The spa was impossible to reach, they finally got back to me after my trip was over and I was back home. There is no pool nor jacuzzi. The picture of people sitting around a pond in adarondak chairs on their website is very misleading, this was a murky pond overgrown with brush and no adaronacks. The campfires and smores are actually part of a nearby hotel, not La Tourelle, so when we went they had to decline us because they didn't have enough supplies to feed both us and their guests. The wifi is horrendous with no option to upgrade. The towel rack to hang your towels in my rooms was directly over the toilet, yuck. Lastly a pipe burst while we were there, closing the spa completely and filling the entire floor with the smell of feces. We eventually left a night early due to all of this discomfort and when doing so the manager was very defensive and not once expressed any empathy. The sign and all branding says, "Hotel - Bistro - Spa" which during my stay was true, lie, and then closed without communication or accomodation. She said it was my fault for not booking with the spa weeks prior to my vacation. I don't think that's acceptable.
