The grounds and location were spectacular. The restaurant was very good. We also enjoyed local entertainment. That being said, the rooms are dated and not well maintained. Our room was unacceptable and we were moved to another. It was somewhat better. We may consider going back because we know what to expect.

Had a great stay at Royal Kona Resort. The panoramic ocean views are absolutely stunning, and the resort itself is quiet and relaxing. The pool area is beautiful, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the location is perfect — walking distance to great restaurants and nightlife. Would definitely stay here again!

The whole property is tired and dated. The wifi rarely worked. The sinks were slow draining. The onsite restaurant was TERRIBLE and expensive. The amenities included in the "resort fee" were far from our room and couldn't be used advantageously. The bed was soft and they refused to bring in a firmer mattress. The sliding blinds were broken. The patio door to the Lanai was hanging by a thread.

The room was clean and housekeeping came daily to make the bed, change the towels and clean the room. Really nice balcony and ocean view. The staff was friendly and helpful. We used the coffee maker in the room to make cup of noodles that we purchased at the sundry store for some meals

Staff was kind and helpful when they could be. Unfortunately there was a frog in the atrium of the Bay tower that croaked from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am. It was so loud, it could be heard over the sound of a loud television. I paid for an oceanfront room and got a room with a view of a giant tree with some ocean on the sides. Should’ve gotten a cheaper room facing the parking lot, would’ve gotten the same view. The glass sliding door handle was too big that it blocked the shutter doors from closing all the way and let in a lot of light at night. The clock on the phone was set to 20 minutes ahead and couldn’t be changed. There was no way to shut it off either. The tub was a little clogged and bubbles up water when someone from next door used their shower. This was the one thing the resort was able to fix while I was there. The hotel was fully booked so moving rooms was not an option. The pool was nice, the restaurant was good, and parking was very easy and convenient to downtown Kona.

The patio view of the garden and pool and ocean was lovely. The bed and pillows were great! The restaurant was beautiful and most of the food was good, some of it just okay. The staff was helpful.
