Very tired hotel, overdue for a make over!

Pros: Front of House Staff lovely, room was pleasant
Cons: Needs a make over and restaurant staff need some customer service training!
We booked for 6 nights but checked out after 2 nights. The room was pleasant enough but the hotel itself was so tired and in need of renovation. The front of house staff were absolutely lovely and arranged for a refund for us, but the hospitality staff were hopeless and mostly unhelpful. So disappointed.

Pros: location on the water, large pool and quiet despite being 98% full
Cons: the housekeeping was ambiguous and when requested wasn't complete
Location: swim and snorkel in clear water swim at night with manta ray close to wharf for boat trips free trolley to coast shops and bars
great location around the rocks and close to swimming with the manta ray, Nice pool and bar complexes with bikes and golf clubs available. the free trolley bus was a great way to explore the coast and shops

A nice escape close to Kona

While our welcome was a little underwhelming, and the hotel Is dated, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing break here.

Not up to standard

Pros: Not much
Cons: pretty much everything. The hotel is dated and needs a major upgrade. The gardens and grounds are the only redeeming feature.
Location: Too far away from Lahaina. You will need a car if you want to do anything outside the resort complex.
We booked a room with 2 double beds. When we arrived we were put in a room with one king bed and then told because we had a 15 year old with us we would need to pay an extra for a rollaway bed. Only after considerable arguement did we get our room that we booked and paid for in advance. This was very annoying and disappointing. The hotel was well aware that there were three of us in our party and that 2 double beds were required yet still put us through the debilitating process of having to actually argue to get what we wanted and paid for. Then to make matters worse we actually booked a table in "Rays on the Bay", the hotel's main dinner restaurant to actually get a decent meal after 2 days of travelling around Maui and the Big Island and living on take out and sandwiches etc, to be actually asked to wait in a holding area for a table which we had booked and arrived for bang on time was extremely annoying. The wait turned out to be about 15 minutes which probably wasn't too bad except for the fact that we had already booked and as a consequence expected to be treated a little better on arrival for the table. The situation did not improve for dinner either, with the waitress forgetting one of our drinks and the meal I was served definitely not up to standard as a main course in a dining establishment attached to a Sheraton hotel.

Dated and too far from anything

Friendly staff and lovely views but overall dated and too far from town so that unless you want to wait for the irregular and uncomfortable trolley service you have to pay for a cab and they are also hard to get. Other than seeing volcanoes not really much to recommend the whole island.

Lovely resort on the Kona side of Big Island

Cons: The buffet breakfast could be much better, it was very disappointing, especially given it's cost
Location: Manta rays, snorkelling/diving, kayaking, beaches, short drive to coffee plantations
Stayed here for our honeymoon in one of the suites which had a touch of luxury, was comfortable, clean and well appointed with a beautiful view of the mountains and part of the bay. Hotel staff were all very friendly, surrounding gardens are well kept and the free yoga classes were great. My only criticism would be that whilst the restaurant on the bay is a lovely spot the buffet breakfast is way overpriced for what you get and whilst the dinner menu is tasty I also felt it cost more than it was worth.

Fantastic pools especially for children

Pros: The pool
Cons: The dining options
Location: Not many options within walking distance
We only had a one night stay as we were on our way to the Volacanoes' National Park. We had a partial oceanview room - very very partial ocean view! check in easy. Rooms very plain and dated - was glad wasn't a long stay. The outside areas were fantastic though - really large pools with lots of room and really children friendly which was loved by our daughter. I can't recommend the restaurant though - a really long wait for a table (the room they use for breakfast was closed which I can't' understand). Poor quality food and slow service. Had a band playing so very very loud and not enjoyable for dinner. I can't 'understand why dinner wasn't served in their breakfast location.

Pleasing experience.

Nice resort, great activity list and amazing and helpful staff. Location is a bit far from the main part of the city, which meant we had to drive 10+ minutes to do anything.
