Great location!!

Location and views were great. House was nice but bathrooms were small, old, and dirty. Could definitely use a renovation for as much as they charge. Overall still a nice vacation.

Great house and location. It is an older home and the bathrooms are a little small. But for the location, it's proximity to the beach and price, it was a great place to spend the week! I would definitely stay there again.

Girlfriend Getaway

We had a great time in OBX. The house was as described. The ocean facing deck was by far our favorite spot to be. The sunrises were amazing, even saw a few dolphins. It was a quiet time of season, not too many people which we found perfect. Great location, quick drive or walk to different activities and restaurants. We had the wrong code given to us to get into the house so that was slightly inconvenient as we had to drive back to the office to get the after hours number as we didn't see it on our paperwork. We got that resolved pretty quickly, however so was appreciative of that. A few other little maintenance hiccups but nothing that affected the home so much that it spoiled the great time we were having. If the pet policy didn't change we would 100% rent this house again!!

What a Gem!

I’m so excited that I found this cottage. I’ve never stayed at a beach cottage on the beach before due to budget, but this was such a special find! I love everything from the wood paneling to family photos over the generations. I can’t wait until next year’s books open up so I can book it again! Carolina Shores was super easy to work with and always professional and nice when I spoke with them.

Perfect Old School Cottage

The perfect little oceanfront cottage. We didn't even need to sit on the beach because the deck was perfect to sit in the sun or shade and still enjoy the sites and sounds of the ocean. We loved the old knotty pine. The beds could use new mattress and the position of the toilets could be different, we found it hard for an adult male to sit on them. Those are minor things and would not stop us from coming back, in fact we have booked for next year already.

We were so happy we were able to book this property. It was a dream to be right on the beach and in such a great location. Would definitely book this property again. Our dog also loved the easy beach access!

Loved the house and location.

The property management company is terrible. Trash was not taken out, dirty dishes in the dish washer, dirty clothes in the washer (someone’s underwear), had no signs of being cleaned any time recently, and there were roaches. I loved the house and location but the property management company is beyond horrible.

Great beach location and older house

You couldn’t ask for a more spectacular Outer Banks beach on your back porch and the price was great. But the house is old and worn. Beds are comfortable but the rest of the indoor furniture is old. If that doesn’t bother you, then go for it.

The Gray House

Nice, clean old fashion house. The bathrooms are a little tight, and the lighting was poor. But the pros out weight the cons. The bedrooms are a nice size a give you privacy from the rest of the house. At first I thought the place was a little dated until I looked at the pictures on the wall. Turns out the same family had been a part of this house for generations. I could see back to the 50’s in some photos and see some of the same items in the house. I thought this was really neat and completely appreciate the fact that they kept it the same from childhood. The best part is the the large deck with an outdoor shower. Amazing views right on the beach! We had a very nice stay! ** If you bring a dog, make sure you have a baby gate at least 48 inches wide for the porch.

Love the Gray House!

The Gray house was better than expected; the photos online do not do this home and location justice. It is clear that the owners have taken great pride in their beach home for generations. It was clean and spacious with amazing ocean views from the covered deck. The furnishings are not luxurious, but comfortable and perfectly acceptable considering that the point of a beachfront home is to be outside enjoying the ocean breeze. What a treat it was to be steps from the ocean. We hope to stay again next year!

Great traditional cottage stay!

Having grown up spending my summers on Avalon Beach, The Gray House brought back so many happy memories! The only thing that kept me from a perfect rating was the tub/shower - when you pull the curtain shut, it’s a bit dark in there for me. I ended up using the outside shower which was great-perfectly located to offer maximum privacy even though it was outside!

Perfect getaway

My family and I had a wonderful experience. The home was a perfect size for the four if us, loved the character of this cottage, and loved being able to walk right on to the beach. Homes are pretty close on either side, yet still had privacy. The deck was a beautiful spot to sit and watch the sunrise, all the dolphins, and even the most brilliant rainbow we've ever seen! The only small complaint is that there was a day we had to stay inside due to weather, and the furniture wasn't that comfortable to lounge in for the day. All in all, another great vacation in the Outer Banks!
