Apart from the fact that we didn’t love the whole hipster vibe, we have some comments on our tatami suite: - the beds and pillows were so hard our backs hurt in the morning - lack of light in the bathrooms and throughout the suite - restaurant food was overpriced for what it was Loved Kyoto, but Ace was not our speed.

Ace hotels never disappoint us. We’ve stayed at the Ace in LA a couple of times and was excited to check out the Ace in Kyoto. The room we booked for 3 (standard twin) was spacious and clean. The decor is always very nice as well. Our reservation included free breakfast for 2 and the food was great and filling. There’s a shopping center and train station conveniently located out their side door. Customer service is always great and we can’t wait to return for another visit in the future.

Wonderful hotel with a friendly and helpful reception, the only criticism is the service in the bar wasn’t as welcoming as at other Japanese hotels. Saying that the rooms are wonderful and well appointed and we had a wonderful lunch in the hotel as well.
