The room was spacious, but no seating and very odd layout. The fridge worked well. The sport complex is excellent, friendly staff, lovely grounds, and poor food quality in restaurant.

Casa del Río is a true gem in La Fortuna. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature — we saw birds and even monkeys during our stay. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with lovely views that make you feel completely connected to the environment. The staff truly make the experience exceptional: warm, attentive, and always willing to help with recommendations, tours, and transportation. Breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning, and the restaurant is excellent for both lunch and dinner. The location is perfect — close enough to town and attractions, yet quiet and relaxing. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel with outstanding service, comfort, and a genuine Costa Rican feel, Casa del Río is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to return!

Free breakfast has limited choices, but still good food. The service on our last day there wasn’t the greatest, not sure why. The rooms are clean but had very lukewarm showers-when it’s raining so much a warm shower is appreciated. The hot tub was lukewarm and we would be chilled sitting in it. Again, when it’s raining an it’s nice to sit in a hot tub. Otherwise, clean, great location, nice views at the restaurant. The service started good at the restaurant and then went down hill.

Our room was very clean upon our arrival. The service that Katherine and Maria provided at front desk was fantastic. Staff in the restaurant were friendly, and attentive. The secure parking was convenient and reassuring. Loads of amenities for sports enthusiasts or those that just want to relax. Many different bird species on the site as well as some monkeys!

We had a few issues with the room but each time they were immediately addressed and fixed by staff. The staff members are top notch!!!! Wilbert was a fantastic server and we looked forward to seeing him every day!!!

The perspective of Vulcan Arenal was perfect from this perfectly situated property. Great food ranging from Costa Rican to international, available throughout the day. I preferred their salt water pool to staying at a different resort which featured thermal pools- then we chose to drive back to eat here once more- so good. Just know in advance that you may not drive to your room; must take a jitney.

A Hidden Gem by the River – Truly Magical Stay! I had the pleasure of staying at Boutique Casa del Río, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The location is absolutely beautiful — nestled by the river, with peaceful surroundings and a charming ambiance that instantly makes you feel at home. The rooms are tastefully decorated, combining modern comfort with local character. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail was impressive. I especially loved waking up to the sound of the river and enjoying my morning coffee on the balcony. What really made this stay exceptional, though, was the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Warm, welcoming, and attentive — they made us feel more like family than guests.

Eveything about the property is great. We truly felt confortable but yet immersed in nature. Loved the free breakfast each morning and the property has multiple pools to enjoy. Great stay!

Casa Del Rio was a very unique and amazing hotel. We almost felt like we were the only guests staying there because the service was so superb. I have already told many people about our stay here and will be sure to tell others. It was amazing!! I highly recommend!

We had an amazing time at Casa Del Rio. The staff were very friendly at check-in and during our stay. We enjoyed the different pools and the fun waterslide. The villa we stayed in was very comfortable and spacious and we really enjoyed having a grill on the deck and being able to self-cater some nights. We enjoyed the breakfast - there was a good selection on the menu and especially Diego was a fantastic waiter who looked after us and the kids really well. The location is really good - just a few minutes from the town but in a nice quiet location and close to the La Fortuna river and waterfall.
