Room and facilities felt neglected. The room had a damp mouldy smell coming from the air conditioning. We had an interconnecting room and the same thing happened from our other room. The damp smell was that bad that we opted not to use our air conditioning which isn’t very practical in the Bali heat. We reported it to reception where a maintenance man said he would come and take a look and clean the filters but the smell didn’t go away. There was an awful smell coming from the drains in the bathroom and also our son left a white t-shirt in the room one morning when we went to the buffet breakfast. He had Bali belly so we had requested that his room be turned over with fresh sheets. When we returned to the room, His brand new white tshirt with blue writing all over it had disappeared and when we contacting the cleaning department they said they would look for but nothing got followed up. We assumed it was collected amongst the bedding however the brand name shirt was never found. My partner had previously stayed at this hotel multiple times and said that the standard had severely deteriorated at this hotel. Great location and staff were friendly but sadly the facilities are dated, old and tired and felt very unhygienic

They offered an upgrade for an extra $10 per night to a pool view room. This room was extremely run down, the door to the verandah didn’t close properly & it was extremely noisy during the day and night. Avoid these pool view rooms if you wish to have a quiet night.

GREAT STAY

We enjoyed out 7 nights at Jayakarta. Apart from our room being a little outdated and needing a good refurb it was clean and comfortable. Serviced daily including fresh bottles of water. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The grounds a beautifully maintained and the pools were fabulous. The beach was only across the road where we found many, many beach bars, cafes and warungs.

The Jayakarta is still a good value for money hotel with plenty of amenities, great gardens, good swimming pools etc. However it is getting very old now and needs to have a serious update of the rooms and other infrastructure. Staff are helpful and friendly, but seem to have lost some of their passion for the property - maybe due to the age of it.
