I arrived early and staff allowed me to place my bags in storage (£3 each piece). Check-in was quite simple. They helped me with my bags up the multiple flights of stairs (no lift, old building). The rooms looked nothing like what appeared online. I’m not sure if they are doing renovations, and I got unlucky with one of the old run down rooms. There was a basin in the room with a ‘do not use’ sign written across it. And it was taped up. Dirty marks on all the walls. Thin sheets with some marks on them. No towels supplied, you have to purchase them. The toilet on my level smelt terrible at all times, a lot of the time with a “liquid” on the floor. No soap or hand towel. I was on a higher floor and thought I would not have issues with people lurking about, but on multiple occasions I had people trying to get into my room, by themselves, and with there door access cards. People talking quite loudly on their phones in the middle of the night outside my room door, instead of going into the stairwell. The main communal bathrooms were questionably clean, with scum and mound in shower recess. In the communal area there are no fridges. Just a hot water urn and microwave. The greatest upside of this hostel is the location. It is in such great proximity to public transport to the city, and there are also supermarkets and pubs/cafes in very easy walking distance. I really hope that the other rooms, like the ones displayed online, are up to a much better standard.

Disgusting

The location is excellent. The hostel provided the worst accommodation and service I have experienced. Never again.
