The staff at this hotel are helpful and obliging. My room was spotlessly clean and nicely presented. The breakfast at a charge of £18.00 per person was a poor and miserable experience and was not a patch on this company's breakfast buffet at their sister hotel in Galway in Ireland. At 8am, the cold meat section of the breakfast buffet amounted to two slices of ham so small they would not keep a bird alive. There were also half a dozen slices of salami on an adjacent platter. The choice of breakfast cereals amounted to Cornflakes, Chocolate Rice Chrispies and two other cereals which I was unable to identify because no labels were present on the serving bowls. The fried eggs on offer at the servery were dried up- most unappetising. I have had more appetising breakfasts in a greasy spoon cafe without the hotel price tag. I would stay here again for its cleanliness and location but would avoid the restaurant and take breakfast in one of the many eateries in the district which is what I did on the second day of my stay.

The hotel room smelt really bad we got the room 701 and there wasn’t no wind so it was unbearable. Towels have stains on them. Some of the lights were not working.

I booked, paid up front and checked in on line. On arrival I was told that there was no room of my “room type” available because “the hotel is very busy this weekend” I pointed out that I had booked and paid so how busy they are should be irrelevant She then told me I should have “locked the room in” but couldn’t explain what that involved over and above booking, paying and checking in on line, which I’d done Then she asked if I booked with a third party and told me that was the problem - I should have booked directly with the hotel as using a third party booking site doesn’t guarantee the room! She was clearly very busy making up reasons why this was a problem created by me and significantly less busy in trying to resolve the issue. She repeatedly refused to call a manager or resolve the problem and was sullen and rude I kept asking her to check availability for other room types and she told me there was a double double available but that was an upgrade so more expensive! I explained having an extra bed that I didn’t need in a room only marginally bigger is not an upgrade for me. She finally allocated it to me but made a big issue out of not charging me extra - for effectively a more cramped room The hotel should identify who this was on reception at 9pm on Friday 14/11/25 and invest in training. Her attitude was appalling and telling guests that booking and paying for a room via hotels.com does not secure it, is an issue for hotels.com and the hotel
