Not bad for a quick trip

Pros: Loved the variety of activities you could do and the fact that there were areas that you could escape to for peace and quiet.
Cons: The food options could be improved and the tour options booked out really quickly so perhaps they need to increase the availability.
Location: Water was fantastic and clean. Island hopping options were good. Weather was fabulous.
Rooms were clean and serviced daily. Food options were outrageously overpriced and were generally low end quality. Food at the restaurant was nice and atmosphere was more relaxing away from the general food areas but $240 for lobster was ridiculous. Had a great time snorkeling on the reefs and other water sports. We were there for a wedding and the event was beautiful and well prepared.

Still Renovating

It appears that every time we have stayed at the island there is always renovations of some type going on. From my experience if you maintain as you go you don’t have to perform expensive renovations especially disrupting families on holidays.

Good family resort.

Plenty to do, or not. Definitely a family resort, plenty of parents and children about, however okay for groups who don't expect anything beyond a relaxing time away. Bar drinks more or less on a par with Aus. Beer from the small shop slightly less than over the bar, however, the price does not change with quantity. Price for 1 is the same if you buy 100. Maybe stock up for light lunches before arrival at the resort if you take the meal deal for the breakfast & dinner buffet, which I can recommend, plenty of food & a good variety with a dinner theme each night.

Great locations, few downfalls.

On arrival everything was great! Tiki was lovely everything was brilliant. We always got a friend Bula from everyone and a bottle of champers and sarongs because it was our honeymoon. Mozzies and sandflies were a bit of a pain. Take your aeroguard. Only downfall is that seems alot of the activities to take place would need a minimum of 6 people for it to happen. Bit hard when your travelling as a couple or even for a family of 4?!

Beautiful location and okay for 3 or 4 days

Pros: The entertainment was good, especially the Fijian traditional concert night. Crab and frog racing was fun. Great Kava ceremony by Michael.
Cons: The furnishings in the rooms need cleaning. More fresh tropical fruit for breakfast and dinner buffets.
Location: Ideal tropical island location. Snorkelling, canoeing and other water sports at the resort. Village tour on nearby island and tours to other islands
Plantation Island Resort is the perfect Fijian setting you would expect, with crystal clear water, palm trees and hammocks dotted around the resort. It is a good venue for an authentic Fijian holiday, but is not a 4 star hotel and is better for families than couples. The furnishings in the bures were grubby and the food was ordinary (especially for Fiji). Fresh fruit was scarce and you had to be at the buffets (breakfast and dinner) early to find any fresh fruit - no bananas, paw paw, mangoes at all. Very little tropical fruit, in fact, which we found disappointing. Three or four days on the island is enough. To mix your holiday with a few days on the mainland would be better.

Friendly, relaxing, no-frills stay

A great place to base yourself and relax. Fantastic staff genuinely interested in making you feel welcome and at home. Yes - there are kids because it's a FAMILY resort, but my wife and I didn't find this an issue at all. Grab a push bike and explore the island and what it has to offer. Chill out!

Great for kids.

We had a 2 bedroom Bure, 243, close to the beach on the southern end of the resort. It was in the perfect spot to catch the sea breaze and for privacy. The staff we very welcoming and friendly which is a trait of Fijians. The kids club was great for our 4 and 6 year olds, and there was plenty to keep them busy. No TV and Internet was great. Only downside is cost which is the same throughout Fiji.
