One and done

We stayed in the Victoriana room. It was a nice spacious room with a beautiful view of the ocean. The windows in our room had no screens on them and you could barely open the windows enough to get fresh air. They only have parking for 9 cars under the old wooden trellises, right on Ocean Blvd. We had to park on the street because the lot was mostly full except for an area where the wood was rotten and ready to fall. We didn’t want to risk that falling on our car. You have to take a few flights stairs to get to the front door of the Inn. It took awhile to get our luggage and other items up there. We checked in with Pearl, the Inn Keeper, and she gave us a tour of the property and showed us to our room. After that we never saw her again. They offered a full service breakfast with a set menu with several options to pick from. Breakfast is offered 8:00am to 10:00am. The breakfast was good. They have a set menu with a variety of options. All the Inn staff were very friendly, hard working and accommodating. The Inn is located very close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the wharf, which was convenient. The property is definitely old and is in dire need of repairs and upgrades. The bed in our room was awful. So uncomfortable that it made our backs hurt. The bathroom was also in need of renovation. It looked dirty on the bottom of the shower probably because of wear and tear and age. Also nobody ever answered the phone when I called to ask a question before our check in date.

We were very disappointed with our room and with the management of the B&B. Our room, bathroom ‘ & shower were very small. The room had no TV, no fridge, no ventilation and we had to park a block away. After seeing our room we asked the B&B to cancel our reservation and return our $. They kept 1/3 of our $ for one night despite the B&B advertising “Free Cancellation” in their Expedia advertisement. Very disappointing.

Great location on Ocean Blvd almost exactly between Cannery Row and Lovers Point. Rooms have no A/C, TV, fridge, coffee maker, or decent hang-up closet. Have to sleep with windows open which is fine except the seagulls bark and scream all night. Breakfast was fair-just eggs, toast, fruit, and one piece of bacon. Nice little court patio for the back rooms. Looong stairway walk from lower parking to upstairs rooms. Don't bring too much stuff.

The hotel is very old, nice if you want to experience 1800s but there is no water coming out of our shower. Three nights we stayed here, I felt dirty not getting shower especially after we hiked. There is hole on the floor as well.
