Classic hotel in a convenient location close to everything there is to enjoy in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Only complaints were that rooms don’t have coffee makers and stair carpeting in lobby off Ocean Avenue should be replaced.

I go a room with a view of the ocean, but there was construction going on so I couldn’t open my window during the day because I was not comfortable with the construction going on and because of the scaffolding. And the scaffolding was in the way of the view.

Location was great and staff was friendly. Our only concern was the room we had was slanted and there was a gap at the top and bottom of our door, so we didn't have a lot of privacy and could hear everything from the hallway.

Possible Shortage of parking but room was comfortable. Staff excellent and helpful with exception of one desk clerk: all others were helpful . Little noisy at night in my hallway but that was due to rude guests and not the fault of the hotel staff. I like that it was walking distance of the beach. The hotel is charming.

The rooms near the street have trucks loading early in the morning. Avoid them at all costs. Some rooms have a smoky smell from the roof. The evening staff is very unhelpful. The day staff is very friendly.

This place is really worn down and looks “dirty” even when clean. Rooms are really small and feel cramped. This time they felt stuffy too, with little air circulation and no AC. Fan helped but couldn’t keep window open due to noise. No coffee maker or any amenities in room. No coffee or other freebies in the lobby. Overall feels like a cheap motel. If not for the location and convenience of 1-night stays, wouldn’t stay here at all.

We have stayed here before, but this was our anniversary. After returning from dinner, a short while later there was a knock on the door and there stood a staff member with an ice bucket and a bottle of champagne! This place is an absolute gem. It is right in the middle of all of the art galleries, boutique shopping, and restaurants all within walking distance from the hotel. I honestly cannot say enough about this place other than this will always be our hotel whenever we visit the area! Five stars?...I wish I could give SIX!!!

I will not coming back to pine inn in the future. No parking place we had to go around block several time to find one space on the street. Room was so hot. No AC. No elevator. Our room was on the 3rd floor. No one helped.

This is a charming and unique experience in a historical inn. However, the history of the building was the only positive aspect of our stay. I was disappointed in the lack of care, attention and kindness of staff. The carpet throughout the entire inn needs attention. Our room was dirty. A pill and dirty a-tip on the floor, a candy wrapper on the chair and makeup smears on the mirror were not very welcoming as we entered the room. The bathroom door did not close all the way and there were deliveries and glass bottle noises below us right outside the window as late as 1am. Worst nights’ sleep we have had on our week long stay up the PCH. Disappointing for the price.

Stayed one night amidst a longer road trip. Front desk staff was nice and helpful, but I was disappointed with the room for the amount spent. It was very small and outdated. I know that many other inns in Carmel are like this (you stay there for the location, charm, history, etc. vs the amenities), and I can appreciate that, but I’m glad we only stayed for one night… they were also doing work on the roof directly outside our window a majority of the day we were there which didn’t contribute anything positive to our overall experience. Overall, a fine experience, but if traveling to Carmel again, I’d look to book elsewhere.
