Rich in cultural history, many New Orleans greats have called the Treme home: Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, civil rights activists, Mardi Gras Indians, Brass Bands, and Second Line parade leaders. Our neighborhood has plenty to see and do in its own right -- we suggest all newcomers to the area check out Willie Mae's Scotch House located a few blocks away. (Best fried chicken in all of New Orleans!)
Getting Around: The best way to get around is by foot, bike, taxi, or Uber. For cycling enthusiasts, New Orleans is an eminently bikeable city, and there are several rental and tour companies nearby. The Quarter is a 3-5 minute Uber away, and other hotspots such as the Bywater and Magazine Street are also within striking distance.
