Wonderfully kind and patient staff. Clean room. All the basics included: fridge, microwave, coffee maker. The parking lot had left something to be desired with deep potholes which looked like mere puddles. Blow dryer was partially melted - made me concerned about safety.

The staff were terrible and would not provide me with a non-smoking room as stipulated in the contract. I was told to vacate the premise if I could not live in the "smoking room" and then I was denied any refund for the 3-night stay after I did vacate the room as requested. The front desk staff were both belligerent and nasty and fully uncooperative in providing a non-smoking room as stipulated in the rental contract. I have asked Expedia to sue the Travel Lodge by Wyndham of Newport Oregon for damages and lawyers' fees.

The rooms were dated, but clean. The hot water was not "hot", warm but not what I would have liked. None of the clocks in 3 rooms worked. I had made reservations for 2 double beds but at check-in, none were available. The did accommodate us by comping a second room, which was acceptable. We were told to take our belongings out of our rooms after the second night and come to the office the next day and a room with double beds would be available. We fished on that day in miserable conditions and were wet, cold and hungry. The note on the door said the office would be closed until 3. I contacted staff with the number provided on the sign. The woman said she was short staffed and was cleaning rooms. We had to wait about an hour in the truck before being able to enter our room. Overall, the stay was fine except for the inconvenience of being shuffled around. I understood staff's frustration of being shorthanded, but a bit more customer service would have been appropriate.

The lock for the door didn’t work when I checked in. On our third night we repeated. I noticed a screw missing on the lock leaving it loose the first night. On the third night when I mentioned it she said that she knew about it and that the maintenance guy would take care of it.

The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mold and behind the toilet. The inside of the refrigerator was covered in food. The room smell awful. They couldn’t even honor our reservations for a king room. I was told they didn’t have any other rooms available. Highly recommend staying somewhere else.

We showed up about 3:20 (check in starts at 3) and we were told they were short staffed so the room wasn’t ready. The manager asked us to come back in an hour to an hour and a half. Went back at 4:30, we were able to check in but we were told the room still wasn’t ready so we had to wait outside. We didn’t get in our room until about 5:30. We were in our room and some random person opened our door. The manager messed up and gave them keys to our room. The man was saying we were in his room, we said it was our room. We called the manager, she was very rude on the phone. Just raised her voice and said “sorry, I’m fixing it” and hung up. The phone in the room didn’t work. Oh and there was no hot water. And I mean no hot water. This wasn’t a you need to let it warm up situation. There was just not hot water. Again, called the manager. She said she didn’t know why but give her 30 mins to look into the problem. Never heard from her again, checked the water multiple times into the evening and never had hot water. Terrible stay. Would not recommend.
