Barcelo was trying to sell us a 25 weeks vacation package and they lied to us The said if we buy the $30.000 packs for 25 weeks we only have to pay $518 maintenance fee every time we use a week They never tell us the food wasn’t included So when we were about to sign the contract they told us otherwise.. I’m sharing this bc I don’t want this to happen to anyone else also they made us lose 5 hours on vacation.. worst hotel ever and I’ve been all over the place

Firstly, if a wheelchair dependent guest checks in, be sure that they can ALWAYS access the outside (i.e.- the lobby) at the very least, if not all the amenities, without facing a staircase. In our case the elevator on our floor broke down and the only way for us to leave our floor was to take two flights of stairs. The situation was rectified, but should not have happened in the first place. I would also like to note that if there were no elevator service, a wheelchair dependent guest would have no access to ANY food, none of the buffets, nor any of the restaurants. Secondly, when a guest requires safety equipment with a certain weight capacity, makes this request MORE THAN ONCE, this needs to be fulfilled, it is not a request made for convenience, but out of NECESSITY! My shower chair broke from under me and I was injured, not mention the time and effort it took to get up off a slick wet floor. The chair was replaced as well but with one of the same inferior quality and I never used it. Thirdly, signage for proper, safe, COMPLETELY STEP FREE, paths, and ramps needs to be addressed, as well as full access to ALL POOLS, and other amenities, shops, etc- every single shop had steps that prevented me from entering, it was also difficult to find a way into the main theater. The whole property is a disabled guests worst nightmare, huge cracks, uneven pavement, and ramps that are too steep, accessible sinks that are either too high or too large. No real attempt to meet food allergy

Out of the four nights we were scheduled to stay at Occidental Xcaret, we were only able to enjoy the first night. For the remainder of our stay, we were confined to our room, extremely ill, unable to eat or leave the room. To make matters worse, during this time, the air conditioning in our room went out for hours. The room became unbearably hot, with floors and doors sweating from the humidity - making an already distressing situation even more unbearable. My children each lost between 6 to 8 pounds due to their inability to eat or keep anything down as a result of the parasitic infection. What was meant to be a surprise 50th birthday celebration for my husband - an occasion we had looked forward to with great excitement - turned into a traumatic and unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons. Additionally, I was shocked to find that there was no hand sanitizer available anywhere throughout the hotel. With the volume of guests on-site. I tried to get a refund for my stay through Expedia, as that’s who I booked with, but they informed me that the hotel wouldn’t reimburse us, so they were unable to assist further.

This was our second stay. Food was subpar the first time, this time it was slightly worse. Most of the food is cold and not tasteful. The building itself is getting dirtier, the mantente is kept up in certain aspects but overall quality is going downhill. Restaurant reservations are disappointing. Overall an amazing stay.. beautiful beachfront love the salt water pool, love the property itself. Love that you’re so close to Xcaret. Staff was pleasant, will return in a few years but if nothing has changed food wise probably won’t return.. the food is the killer for me.

Staff are kind and do their best to ensure satisfaction. Daily room cleaning and towels are included. For beaches you receive a towel card that you return to receive a new towel for each visit to the beach. Lots of fish and wild life to see. I recommend brining snorkelling gear to see the coral. Check the flags and ask life guards if it’s safe to enter the ocean beyond the beach. They will let you know if your are in a danger zone by blowing the whistle. Very helpful as it’s easy to get caught up in the views. The resort itself in a rainforest so lots of animals to keep your eyes open for. Don’t walk around without shoes as there are scorpions that may cross your foot path. You have to pay admissions to the parks. Transportation to resort is not included with booking through Expedia. My main complaint was the food was not up to my standards including restaurants… definitely spent a good amount of time in the bathroom… I’m blessed with great dining in Canada and have grown up with chefs. Next visit will be to arte as the food and views are more interesting. Lots of great memories made here!

The staff here is awesome but really pushed to sale the time share & you get hit up all the time. The resort is absolutely beautiful. Other guests with children will use the adult only areas but only one guy was rude & belligerent.
