mixed bag. more of a 2 star hotel than a resort. The setup with the beach was a real letdown. we knew there was a road between beach and hotel, but it is chaos, dirt road traffic jam all day, dust, honking no space on beach for hotel guests (competing with public who bring tents chairs etc. plunk down around main entrance). no shade, lots of people. beach has little depth also, so we didn't really go on it although it's the main attraction. the property is cramped and nestled between beach entrance and only road; tons of people walking on road next to parking entrance. Rooms small, gym lobby upstairs need updating, food was ok more like diner style, + tiny buffet, tiny indoor seating not really any ac. Italian resto was acceptable have to book at 7 am. we had all inclusive, but food very limited, only one "main" resto besides Italian resto, both small, + pool bar for small meals. for the price we paid (very high) i was expecting more. maybe this is the smallest Margaritaville in the chain. I don't know, first time. if i had to do it again in guanacaste i would probably pick a Large resort like Riu palace directly on a private (because cliff at each end and more remote) beach and a lot more affordable.

The stay here was amazing! It was made incredibly clear over and over again throughout our stay that we had chosen the right place for our family. The beach was less than 50 feet from the property, and it was a BEAUTIFUL beach with gorgeous blue water, and the very best sunsets I have ever seen. The pool was beautiful as well. It was easy to get boogie boards, paddle boards, bikes, and towels whenever you needed them. The drinks at the poolside and all of the restaurants were great. My daughters enjoyed delicious mocktails throughout our stay. My girlfriend and I enjoyed some adult cocktails, beers, and wines. The staff were ALL very attentive, helpful, and always kind and patient.

This resort exceeded our expectations. It was quiet, smaller than other resorts we’ve stayed at, had plenty of activities, walkable to the nearby marina and shops, and the service was amazing. We walked to other restaurants in the area, which were fantastic. The swim-up bar was a huge bonus as we spent so many hours in the pool. The beach was pristine and gorgeous. The most beautiful beach and picturesque sunset I’ve ever seen. The beach vendors were kind and did not bother. Food at the restaurants was good but not great. Traveling with a small child, we weren’t looking for the highest quality food anyway. We utilized the in room childcare - Alejandra was so sweet and kind. The massage and facial we received at the spa were relaxing and just what we needed. Service at the restaurants was good, but it was very slow at 5 o’clock somewhere during lunchtime. The only real complaint I had was the pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. The bedding in general seemed not to fit the mattress as it kept coming off. Other than that, we had an excellent stay and plan to return again in the summer.

The resort was lovely! Staff couldn’t have been nicer. While technically across the street from the beach it’s really right there and super convenient. It’s a beautiful beach that wasn’t too crowded. We were glad we didn’t do all inclusive because the food was just ok and there were other great places within walking distance. Everything else was spectacular and we were glad we chose it!

We loved the vibe of this hotel, it’s a really nice location in Playa Flamingo where you can catch the perfect sunset. The staff is really kind and the rooms and facilities are nice. It’s also nice that you can walk to the beach, just in front of the hotel, and walk to restaurants.

Disappointing Experience – Not for Youngsters or Families Staff service and food quality need serious improvement. There is absolutely no nightlife— the resort is completely dead by 9 PM. With only three restaurants, the food options are very limited and repetitive every day. The staff member responsible for booking excursions was rude and unhelpful. We were promised a special anniversary surprise by the planner before arrival, and we even had written confirmation via text messages. However, once we reached the resort, they denied everything and made no effort to resolve the issue. This resort is clearly targeted toward guests aged 60+. There are no activities for kids or young adults, no entertainment, and no nightlife whatsoever. Young couples and families should avoid this place. Do not take the all-inclusive plan—it’s better and more enjoyable to eat outside the resort. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay and not worth the price.

Everything went well. Great beach location. Wonderfully, large swimming pool. Entire staff was very helpful and polite. Rooms were clean with large balcony to relax on. And yes, the AC in the rooms worked great.

The sunsets were great! We went every night and seemed to experience a different view each night.

We weren’t sure what to expect, but it was a perfect location. The beach was really fun, clean and quiet! We had a rental car and went out exploring other beaches both north and south, but Flamingo was the best for hanging out and playing in the waves with the boogie board. Surfing at Tamarindo was fun but the beach itself was very busy. Margaritaville was an easy enough drive from the airport and the national park to go hike the waterfalls and volcano. If you drive yourself, be aware route 911 has a washout and you will have to drive through a small bit of riverbed. It sounds worse than it is, plenty of sedans made it through. It was dark when we first encountered it but once we drove it in the daylight it was no big deal. Traffic can be intense from 4-7 pm on the roads coming in and out of town. If you like setting your own schedule and exploring independently, definitely rent a car. Parking is free at Margaritaville! The staff was lovely, rooms very clean and loved being walking distance to numerous restaurants. Overall it was a great place to stay for our first trip to Costa Rica.

We actually got to experience three different types of rooms while we were there because we got married - we checked into the standard room which was great (a balcony overlooking the pool) and then the honeymoon suite for 3 nights which was AMAZING, following that we were moved into a 1 bedroom ocean view suite, which was also amazing. It had two balconys, a kitchenette, living room, bedroom and bathroom. One of the balconys had sun loungers and the other had a table and chairs. The staff at the resort were fabulous, the food was great, the atmosphere was also great! The location was perfect as the beach that it is on was stunning. I really do not have much to complain about. It is a very small resort, one pool, I believe 4 places to eat (open at different times) but we found it just perfect.

My stay was great, now I truly understand the term ‘pura vida”; thank you to Priscilla and Jose, Felix , and the many other workers and staff(too many to recall all the names), from the staff at its 5 o’clock somewhere to the banana wind restaurant as well as the Italian restaurant Capriccios Pizza Bistro & Cafe and of course the swim up bar License to chill, it was amazing. So much I can say the front desk, housekeeping always accommodating and understanding; to make me and my family stay pleasant definitely a place to go!!
