This self-contained one-bedroom garden apartment constructed in 2014 sits beneath a fully-restored 1914 Arts and Crafts bungalow in the heart of Portland's famed Alberta Arts District. It features a street-level private entrance (no stairs), all south-facing windows providing lots of natural light, 8' ceilings, a full kitchen, high-end finishes throughout, central air conditioning and hydronic radiant heating. Only partially below ground level, the unit is fully sound insulated providing restful quiet and privacy, comes equipped with a 4K projector and surround-sound home theatre system, fiber-optic Internet access with wi-fi, and a spa-inspired bathroom shower with thermostatic controls. Only two blocks away from Alberta Street and the popular Salt and Straw ice cream shop, food carts, restaurants, bars, microbreweries, and more.

Clean and comfy
My husband and I enjoyed our stay and the scenery of Portland and the surrounding area. After hiking we enjoyed coming back to a clean and comfortable place to finish out the day.

Simply the best!
A beauutiful and fully equipped place, located in a great neighborhood. The hosts went well out of their way to meet my needs as a last minute guest. Every detail of decor was exceptional. Clean as could be, and very comfortable. Luxerious bedding and linens were the cherry on top.

Lovely Stay
Our hosts were tremendous the entire stay. They were very accommodating upon check in and out, had beverages in the fridge, and were super responsive throughout the stay. I doubt this place will be available all the time with the location, great customer service, and cleanliness of the space, but next time we travel back to Portland, we will certainly look to stay here again.

Sweet place in an awesome neighborhood
This is a beautiful little craftsman basement unit located in the Alberta arts district. It’s comfortable, spacious, and easily accessible. Parking on the street was not too difficult. The bed is very comfortable and the couch pulls out into a small bed also. The entertainment system was great With access to all the major streaming services. The refrigerator was well stocked, and I’ve never seen a rental kitchen as well outfitted as this one. Every appliance and utensil you could ask for was there. They had a nice selection of bottled and canned beverages, coffee, and tea, even microwave popcorn was available. Check in and check out instructions were clear and simple. we didn’t have to go crazy cleaning the place before we checked out. They have an excellent cleaning service. We were able to check in a little early even. David is an excellent host. He even tried to work with Vrbo about a billing issue I had with the company. David was very helpful in explaining the situation. I will definitely be considering this craftsman on my next trip to Portland. 10/10.

Great stay!
We live in the neighborhood but needed to be out of our house for several days due to an interior project. This comfortable apartment was a great stay for our purposes, and as a frequent VRBO renter during our domestic and international travels, we also highly recommend it for visitors. Appreciated the quality of craftsmanship (wood throughout, bathroom), full kitchen plus proximity to Alberta Street restaurants and take-out, amenities (cold sparkling waters, shower products), attention to environmentally sustainable practices, and excellent communication and help from David, our host. You, too, can have a great stay here!

The house is just a couple of blocks to a quaint shopping area Alberta St. It was quiet, has a great kitchen living area, nicely appointed bathroom and comfortable bed. Frankly, I couldn’t have asked for more.

We enjoyed our two-night stay in the guest quarters of this early 1900s house in northeast Portland. The rental is particularly attractive, with custom woodwork, a well-equipped kitchen with newer appliances, a spacious and extensively tiled bathroom, a comfortable bed, and tasteful decorations throughout. The very responsive host provided complimentary beverages. Highly recommended.

Comfortable, clean, cozy & quiet!
Great location close to Alberta. Perfect apartment - very clean & in great condition. Host was very easy to communicate with. Minimal noise from owner / house above. Although it’s technically in the basement, it doesn’t feel that way - lots of light & not gloomy at all. We were very warm and cozy, even on the coldest of Portland days.
