Holidays To Portugal
Sometimes Portugal feels like Spain's little sister: smaller, always in the shadow of the older girl with flashy beaches and exotic Moorish history.
Take a closer look, though, and you realise that, hey! That kid's got it going on, too. Portugal holidays offer great food, picture-perfect beaches and plenty of historic sites—all without dropping a ton of dollarydoos.
Things to Do in Portugal
The capital city of Lisbon is the perfect jumping-off point for any Portugal holiday. Here you'll find the history of Portugal's golden age on display. From the Ajuda National Palace to the Belem Tower, the Portuguese made a ton of money as they sailed the world and colonised South America and Africa, and they weren't afraid to spend it on building up Lisbon. Outside of the city, you don't need to go far to get to luxurious beach resorts on the southern coast or in the Azores. Also not to be missed is the fairy tale town of Sintra, which boasts heaps of colourful buildings and a slew of amazing castles to tour. Not sure you want to cab it all the way out there? One of Wotif’s Portugal car hire deals will get you from Point A to Point B without breaking a sweat.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
Not surprisingly, Portugal's most varied shopping is in its largest city, Lisbon. There are many boutiques and independent stores selling all kinds of items in the city centre, but for the convenience of having it all under one roof, head to the Colombo Shopping Centre on the northwest side of the city. You might also want to get a look at all the incredible ingredients available to Portuguese chefs by strolling through the Mercado Alvalade Norte—pick up pastries at one of the local bakeries, and window shopping can be almost as satisfying as snacking your way through this market.
Make a point of spending at least some part of your Portugal holiday packages near the water, where you'll be able to sample the country's delectable seafood dishes. You can find seafood anywhere in the country, but the finest restaurants are on the northwest Atlantic coast in Porto, Portugal's second-largest city. This seaside town is the home of the famous port wine, and you cannot leave without sampling some. Be careful, though–it packs a punch!
If sipping port by the sea isn't quite exciting enough for a party animal like you, Lagos is where you need to go for some more serious clubbing. Portugal packages to this raucous beach town let you test out every bar and nightclub in this exciting spot. High season is the summer, but there are die-hard DJs who bring the beats all year round.

Locke de Santa Joana
Hotel staff were very friendly. They helped me painlessly switch rooms when I realized I accidentally booked a room without a fridge. Very comfortable, cute rooms and quiet property. Restaurants on site were very convenient when we had long days or got back to the hotel late. Would stay here ...
