Everything was good except they wouldn’t let you smoke cigars unless you were basically in a small area away from the resort which I didn’t appreciate.When you pay upwards of 39 dollars for a cigar on the resort you should at least be able to enjoy in more comfortable surroundings than a corner outside!

We very much enjoyed our time here! The staff are great and always ready to help. I could mention some names that I remember but I fear that I would also forget some names who were also great! The buffet has very many choices to suite whatever you may feel like eating. Great service at the restaurants as well. Water and ice are excellent. The pools are nice and clean and always with a few trees so you can have full sun or shade while you swim. The ocean is easy to walk in with the hardpacked sand at your feet, no need for water shoes! Just be ready to jump with the occasional higher waves when they come! The long sandy beach is private to the resort. There were only a few authorized vendors selling hats, blankets and trinkets and they were not pushy in the least. This makes it very easy to relax on the beach without being constantly sold to which is what I hear is often happening at other resorts with shared beaches. If you are looking to party hard with friends or just relax and rest quietly, this property is so big that you have many different areas to choose from to spend your time the way that you want! When I return to Puerto Vallarta, I will choose this place again and I have already recommended it to my friends and family. If I would have one complaint, it would be that I never once saw a mariachi band playing at the resort or for the one day that we went into the town. Perhaps this is considered too old fashioned now? Or just the wrong timing?

Ziva has lost its Ziva quality regarding drinks and meals, what they offer in the All Inclusive is like a Three Starts hotel. Very disappointing. If you want a better quality you have to buy it.

Beware of food poisoning, cockroaches and dirty pools! After reading others mixed reviews we decided to stay at Ziva because of the location and the beach - both of which were a delight. However, I got severe food poisoning our first night from room service and spent the majority of our time stuck in bed and had to see a doctor. In addition to that, we had a swim up room and the pool was slimy and full of debris and even a few cigarette butts. The pool has no filter on one end so all the trash and slime ends up in half the pool. Add in the cockroaches in our room (somewhat to be expected in tropical climates), and constant construction everywhere, and I would not recommend anybody stay here.

Everything was fine, the restaurants were just ok, nothing memorable, but ok. The facility is nice, but in the main tower were we stayed think needs improvement, hallways look outdated, room was ok, the mirror was almost falling and I didn’t like the holder for shampoo and conditioner. But we had a good time there. Room service was really nice. Room service food was good, same like the buffet. And the Asian restaurant, but the steakhouse was ok, and the Mexican restaurant needs improvement the food was just ok. Being in mexico for sure they can do better .

The staff was wonderful. We enjoyed the private beach. I would have liked to have more on property activities. They had a lot of exercise classes, but would have liked something fun instead of the same things everyday. Nothing after dinner until the disco at 10:30.I didn't feel like the activities girls were excited about getting out and getting people to join in.

When I booked through Expedia I indicated my children’s ages and booked a room for a family of 4, I didn’t check confirmation before we checked in again and it was only for 2 adults so we had to pay additional when checking in and for our family of 4 with a 6 and 4 year old it ended up being more expensive then my parents room with three adults who booked directly through hotel. I’ve tried contacting Expedia but haven’t had luck. Overall the hotel and the staff were amazing and I wish I booked directly through them.

I’ve been to the Ziva a dozen times in the last twenty years my husband won’t go anywhere else. I love so many things about this resort. The staff is so friendly, every interaction with an employee just makes me smile. The rooms all have amazing ocean views and every year there is something new and improved. The restaurants are first class. This year they are asking us to make reservations. I was disappointed at first but the reservations are easy to make and easy to change and there is plenty of room in any restaurant. I like everything about visiting Puerto Vallarta and staying at the Hyatt Ziva.
