Everything abou this hotel was great! Room was small, but expect that in Europe, but we were surprised at the lack of storage. Pretty much just a small area to hang clothes and a shelf underneath you can put your suitcase and just take your cothes from there. The breakfast was very good...no hot options, but we knew that. The location is amazing, right in the middle of the pedestrian street.

Fantastic location as it was central and within easy walking distance to the bus stop and station. Room was quiet, clean and bed was comfortable. Facilities for making a morning coffee available in the room which is always an added bonus first thing on waking. Breakfast was varied but missed having something hot! Staff were welcoming and friendly. Reception staff were really helpful too.

The location is terrific for exploring the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming and ready to help with any questions. We found the breakfast to be just what we needed and appreciated the ginger shot and smoothies. There’s a bit of street noise at night so if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs or they have some at the front desk. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

First of all, the staff is very helpful and friendly...a big shout out to Liam at the front desk. He was excellent. Nice breakfast... healthy with a good variety of options. Parking is not easy but there is a place behind where you can unload your luggage. Then the tricky part is finding parking around. Download the Parka app... very helpful.

Great location!

This was our second stay at this property. The location is perfect! Situated right on the main walking street- step out of the hotel and you are right there!! Can be noisy at night if your room faces the street. Rooms are on the smaller side, but very comfortable and clean, only slight signs of wear and tear, but nothing that would keep me from staying there again. Staff is friendly. Breakfast buffet is good, limited options, but just enough. The seating is a bit tight, and my only complaint is the staff starts to take food away before the buffet ends- so you do feel a bit rushed to eat, they do not mess around to get you out, so keep this in mind if you are the type that shows up late to breakfast! There is a great bakery/cafe right next to the hotel "Sandholt", so this is also an option, and I do highly recommend this place. Parking is a challenge if you have a rental car. There is a parking garage about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is not super convenient, and not cheap, but it serves its purpose. The hotel allowed us to park our car behind the hotel for a few minutes the day we checked out so we did not have to drag our bags to the parking garage, so this was very nice! If it is your first time in Reykjavik and you will have a rental car, I highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the city parking situation- there are a few apps you can download, we used "Parka". Overall, I highly recommend Sand Hotel- I will for sure stay there again next year.
