8th Wonder of the World: Riverfront Luxury with Jacuzzi & natural Pool

This unique place in the world is built around giant boulders where it is believed that they found the cave of mammoths (mastodons)🦣 thousands of years ago. The river front property is full of a great variety of fruit trees and breathtaking mountain views. It's a jungle paradise with an excellent climate in one of the best towns in Costa Rica, Rivas.

Rocka Verde Retreat is a beautiful home built around 4 giant rocks that provides total seclusion and privacy in a natural setting. It's artistic, luxurious and spacious featuring a jacuzzi with waterfall and a riverfront natural pool. The large shower also has 2 waterfalls. The gourmet kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and is equipped with a quality appliances like our cappuccino machine. We have a fully stocked chef's kitchen including snack pantry with delicious treats like caviar, escargots, anchovies, and olives from Spain. The bedrooms have river views with comfortable beds for a perfect nights sleep. You can also schedule a relaxing massage in our gazebo built by the river or our chef can cook up the perfect meal catered to your taste buds.

The whole property is here for you to enjoy. Take in the river serenity by dipping into our natural pool, relax in the gazebo, or catch some sun on the lounge chairs. All paths are well maintained and our fruit trees are there for your pleasure to pick and enjoy the local variety.

The host Robery Hennesy is an artistic home builder and designer that finds unique lots and builds custom homes for potential buyers. This land was purchased without the knowledge of these beautiful rocks. The seller didn't know about them and Robert discovered them 2 weeks after the purchase. The original plan was to build a two-story house with an elevator next door, but when the four rocks presented themselves they became the focus of the home.

This inspirational home was featured in House Hunters International and you can come experience the magic for yourself. Bringing the jungle into our retreat, it certainly is unique and we like to think of it as the eighth wonder of the world.

Please note that this is Costa Rica. There can be some bugs that sometimes come into the house but keeping the screens closed will help tremendously. Power outages and internet outages also happen and they are beyond our control. They are not frequent, yet they do happen. We do have wifi but the service isn't fast and can be slow at times. You can also expect to see some wildlife nearby like birds and animals. As we are in the jungle we recommend a 4x4 and expect to cross a few bridges and a small stream. This is all part of life in Costa Rica and we hope you enjoy this lively nature's paradise.

Eighth Wonder of the World!

This place is amazing. After walking down the stairs, you see the most incredible rock house with built-in spa, open concept living/dining areas, and truly incredible bathroom with heated seat and great shower. We loved spending family time together in this memorable location. If we had more time, we would have enjoyed hanging out in the gazebo over the river. Very excited to return someday.

Wow,, what a unique place!

The property is amazing....i can see why its named the 8th wonder of the world. The home is biult right into huge rocks but you dont feel like you are in a cave. Robert has designed this home beautifully and uniquely. I would recommend you take advantage of his culinary skills and have him cook you a meal upon your arrival. It was soooo good....and a lot of food!!!! Pasta...braised ribs...roased artichoke...fresh cheese bread....house salad with home made dressing...shrimp cocktail....wine...pastries and home made kumkwat jam...and ice cream!!! Only thing to be cautious about...try to get there in the daylight...we were running late and did get lost but eventually made it!

Magical spot in Costa Rica

The Rocka Verde Retreat was stunning. We had a magical stay. Not only was the house beautifully designed and well equipped, but the property was equally as attractive and situated right on a pristine river. I am so grateful Robert had the creative insight and inspiration to manifest such a unique and astounding space. Definitely a special treat if you are going to be visiting this part of Costa Rica! Robert was very responsive throughout the booking process and stay. The house was equipped with everything needed for cooking and tidying up. The espresso machine was a bonus, as was having oil, coffee, and salt, and pepper provided. Finally, the surrounding areas of Rivas and San Gerardo are a nature lover's paradise even though you will find it hard to leave the property once you are there.

Truly unique

The incorporation of the natural surroundings into the design of the house were incredibly well done. The sound of the river was the perfect white noise to allow for a solid nights sleep.
