TrasteverHome -Cisterna Secrets at the Heart of Trastevere

In one of the most historic and charming streets of Trastevere, our Cisterna Secrets apartment welcomes you with a unique blend of simplicity, elegance, history, and comfort. Located in the picturesque Via della Cisterna, where a rare Renaissance cistern once stood, silently guarding centuries of history, it lies in the heart of central Rome.

Beautifully renovated with care, it features original chestnut wood shutters over 100 years old, restored and painted; tastefully selected wallpapers; a harmonious mix of modern and vintage furnishings; refined flooring; vintage mirrors; and soft lighting. Natural light floods the interiors, creating a bright and relaxing atmosphere.

The apartment is on the ground floor and is accessible via stairs, offers three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers featuring iconic 1970s tiles, and a welcoming living area connected to a fully equipped kitchen – perfect for preparing meals with fresh ingredients from the nearby Trastevere market in Piazza di San Cosimato. From the kitchen, you can step out onto a small service balcony overlooking a quiet inner courtyard. Every room tells a storey - from the vintage mirror at the entrance to the contemporary-style sideboard.

Although just steps from Piazza di San Calisto and Santa Maria in Trastevere, the property offers tranquillity. Its strategic location allows you to walk to Piazza Trilussa, cross Ponte Sisto to reach Campo de’ Fiori, Via Giulia, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon. All around, you’ll find an endless selection of traditional Roman trattorias, cafés, artisan gelato shops, wine bars, and local boutiques – the true essence of Trastevere.

In addition to its location and Renaissance cistern, the apartment holds a deep cultural and literary connection: right below is the historic Trattoria, once a meeting place for renowned Roman poets and artists such as Trilussa, Ettore Petrolini, and Giuseppe Ceccarelli (Ceccarius), and in the 1920s, home to the “I Romani della Cisterna” group.

Whether you are looking for a holiday rental in central Rome, an authentic stay in Trastevere, or a spacious and comfortable apartment, Cisterna Secrets is your home in the heart of Trastevere – the perfect place to enjoy an authentic Roman experience, surrounded by history, charm, and tradition.
