Nice place , very secluded .. easy for uber to find.. please note there are no fans available and no refrigerator in the room. The complementary breakfast was nice & the massage I had was great. Pool was very cold but that’s okay& overall was a good stay.. the walk with the luggage up stone steps was hard but worth it

My four-night stay at Hotel Don Ernesto La Chimba was wonderful, highlighted by the friendly staff and the absolutely excellent breakfast spread. The location is incredibly peaceful, tucked away in the jungle yet conveniently just 30 minutes from the airport. While some reviewers highlight that the rooms aren't Ritz-Carlton quality, I think it is important to note that the prices certainly reflect that, and the hotel offers tremendous value for an authentic and relaxing stay.

The location of this hotel has a stunning view from certain parts of the property. The location next to La Chimba is ideal. It is very green and natural and there is a lot of wildlife you can hear and see. To improve the stay, I would recommend putting fans in the room or an air conditioner. That would help eliminate the stuffiness that we felt in the evening. The beds were comfortable and the space was large. The coffee for the in room coffee maker was delicious. I would also recommend that the breakfast hours be extended. We had an appointment earlier in the day downtown and are early risers. Starting at eight is quite late for many people when the sun comes up around 5:30. We therefore did not partake in the breakfast.

Our stay at Hotel Don Ernesto was truly peaceful and enjoyable. The property is such a hidden oasis and offers a beautiful, calm atmosphere. The staff was warm and accommodating, in addition to the servers at nearby restaurants. We were happy to find the perfect balance of nature and city life by staying at this hotel. It’s such a gem and we would definitely return.

I love the peace that the hotel provided. Very quiet , and intimate . I was suprised to not see many people. During the the time I spent here. The restaurant that was in connection with the hotel , Great tasting foods. Alfredo , and Quesadillas were made with love. If there were minor issues , the Hotel provided immediate service . Use of whats app , helped with communication . It was about 45 mins from SJO Airport. thankyou again for the experience . You have to experience the zip lining , and La Chimba trail that is walking distance from hotel where you can book !

The food was phenomenal, and the room was beautiful with truly breathtaking views. The drive up was a thrill—we went all the way to the top of the mountain on a road that could only fit one vehicle, which was nerve wrecking for someone who doesn’t drive like that frequently. You are supposed to let staff know you are coming so there is no collision. The service was okay; it seemed like they may have been short-staffed because I had to go out of my way a few times to get help from staff. Overall though, it was still a memorable experience thanks to the incredible scenery and delicious food.

This hotel has great potential, but unfortunately it feels neglected and in need of a refresh. Staffing was minimal, and many of the team members seemed inexperienced. The pool was not well maintained—the water level was low, and it appeared to be leaking. Overall, it seems like the property is being kept at a basic operational level rather than being properly cared for. With some investment and attention, this could be a much better experience.

Someone with money really needs to take over and upgrade the interior of the property and add dehumidifiers to each room it smelled very moldy and a lot of bugs in the room but the property itself is absolutely beautiful

The property is very unique. We had a room facing the city and is a breathtaking view. The weather is perfect up there : chilly enough to sleep at night and warm enough to enjoy the pool during the day. The staff is great, the restaurant , and the free breakfast is delicious.
