We have stayed a couple times at the Franciscan, and out of all the various stays we have had in SB - this will be our go-to from now on. We love the cleanliness and simplicity of the rooms, the on-site parking makes us easy to come and go, having cookies in the lobby and coffee is great for kids and adults. The breakfast makes it easy to get going in the morning. We love that the windows open allowing in fresh air in such a beautiful climate. The rooms are clean and updated. The location is perfect to walk to the beach, bike/walking trail along the beach, the pier, harbor, downtown, and SBCC that’s nearby. And it’s just off the main streets enough to feel quiet and safe. It’s truly one of the best!

I have been going to this hotel since 1980. I haven't been there for about 9 years. the reason I chose this hotel is the rooms were always warm and nicely decorated. when I opened the door I was greeted with four white walls and cheep IKEA furniture and a lumpy squeaky mattress. If you want to relive your college days, this is the place for yours for me, Never again.

Loved the patio and how close it was to everything. We could walk to get some food and to a bar. Within walking distance from a market as well as some other places. The WiFi was super spotty in our room though. Bike rentals were convenient and great quality bikes! Do note the tv (at least in our room) only had YouTube, no Netflix or hbo. Without the WiFi, we couldn’t chrome cast either. Not a huge deal because we were there for fun and not so much leisure time. Thought it was worth mentioning if you like watching TV on vacation.

Property is close to downtown Santa Barbara, walking distance. Overall clean property. Cons: service was lacking in quality, the front desk was often absent. The breakfast was very poor, motel quality. The software in the room’s tv was incredibly hard to use, the hotel should provide instructions.

Original room the heater was not working and was cold when checking in. The hotel personnel quickly trandferred to another room which was an upgrade, and everything else worked out great.

I'd definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. Close to the beach, the pier, and downtown Santa Barbara. Had a suite that was clean and roomy, with a comfortable bed and a private balcony. Only minor complaint is that the Continental breakfast could have been better. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.
