Staff is always willing to help. Ronildo the manager at the restaurant speaks English and runs the place well. Carla at the reception is an angel and always gets things done and has a great welcoming spirit. They both deserve a raise in pay!!

Ocean view room price with a pool view

The positives about this hotel are the location right across from the beach. You can watch a beautiful sunset right in front of the hotel and the outdoor seating for breakfast has a beautiful ocean view. The hotel is located right around the corner from a nice little outdoor food court, but is far from the main strip of beach and restaurants in Sao Luis. The lobby of the hotel and the restaurant area are the only thing that is really nice about this hotel. When you get into the rooms and the hallways leading to the rooms, the hotel seems more like a 2 star hotel than a 4 star. The hallways are dark with stains on the floors. The bedding and curtains were old and worn in the room. The air conditioner leaked so badly that there was a huge pool of water in the corner of the room that soaked some of my belongings before I realized that it was leaking. Probably the most frustrating thing was that we booked two ocean view rooms and both rooms were on lower floors with views of the pool with just a tiny glimpse of the ocean above the pool structures. We paid extra for ocean view and the advertising of these rooms as ocean view felt dishonest. Additionally, they were constructing some kind of pergola or something in the pool area right outside the rooms so several days were filled with noise of sawing and hammering. It was impossible to relax.

Nice place, disappointed with quality of room

Everything was nice about the hotel, the staff, lobby and such. The room however was not very nice condition. Mildew and mold stains on the walls. Smell of mildew and the air conditioning did not work too well. The beds also were pretty hard.

The hotel was really nice and clean. Service at check in and out was greatly lacking. They were under remodeling but the breakfast buffet and location great!

Very decent deal

I found São Luis' hotels to be a bit more expensive than what I expected. This taken into consideration, I'd say what you get at Brisamar is a very fair deal. The service is fine, rooms are very clean, breakfast is very good, and the pool is very welcome as it is always very hot in Maranhão. Location is good, and I was able to walk to several very good eateries (Cabana de sol, Peti´s Caldos, etc). Locals say, however, that the city is not very safe, especially after sunset. I had no problems, though. The only aspect which could be improved is putting air conditioning in corridors and reception area.
