Spacious holiday apartment in the Rheingau-Taunus district
Hausen v.d.H. was once a renowned climatic health resort. The southern boundary of the district runs along the so-called “Rheingauer Gebück,” a unique fortification built around 1300 to protect the Rheingau region of the Electorate of Mainz; this defensive line consisted of a 50-meter-wide strip of woodland made up of hornbeams, whose branches were “bent” towards the ground and intertwined, forming an impenetrable thicket over time. Between Hausen v.d.H. and the Mapper Hof, remnants of these mighty, centuries-old “Gebück” trees have been preserved.
