Disappointing Stay – Overpriced for the Condition and Limited Views
I chose Sky Ranch Lodge primarily because it’s right next to the Airport Mesa viewpoint, thinking it would be convenient for enjoying Sedona’s iconic red rock scenery. In hindsight, that was a mistake. The lodge’s location locks you into one specific view, while staying elsewhere in Sedona would allow access to a variety of stunning viewpoints and trails without the premium price tag.
At over $300 per night, the room felt seriously overpriced given the conditions. The facilities are dated, and we could hear every footstep and movement from the guests upstairs—thin floors made for very poor sound insulation, disrupting sleep. The bathroom was another letdown: the ceiling fan was covered in dust, and we even found a sizable spider lurking in there. Basic cleanliness like this should be better maintained, especially at this price point. If rates were closer to $150-200, it might feel more acceptable, but not at the current level.
On a positive note, the location does make it easy to walk to the viewpoint for sunsets. However, if you’re planning to dine at the on-site Mesa Grill for the views and meal, I’d advise skipping it—there are plenty of other fantastic restaurants in Sedona offering equally impressive scenery and better value.
Overall, the convenience didn’t outweigh the drawbacks. I’d recommend exploring other accommodations in the area for a more enjoyable and worthwhile Sedona experience.
