Smallish room but lovely modern bathroom. Staff were lovely. Food ( breakfast and evening meal) were high standard. Grounds were lovely and in easy walking distance of Botanical Gardens. Excellent.

Lovely hotel

Wonderful staff and hotel. Good choice at Breakfast. My only gripe - and I mentioned it when I stayed last time is the pillows. They are awful and affected the quality of my night's sleep. For a minor adjustment this hotel would be superb. Thank you

We stayed 2 nights and found the hotel clean and comfortable, though the shower wasn't very powerful. The hotel is located on the site of university accommodation and there was some late night/early morning noise and shouting from students returning from nights out but this was not too much of a problem. Our first breakfast was superb - hot, well presented, and extremely tasty, but on the second morning it was a little disappointing (perhaps a different chef?) - not quite hot enough, a little dry and over cooked, and less attractively presented. We ate in the bar one evening and found the food there to be of good quality and reasonably priced. Overall the staff were pleasant and helpful, though the reception staff seemed a little off-hand, especially at check-in. All in all we would recommend the hotel for a short stay.

Great hotel and we love the location and convenience of this hotel. The rooms are excellent and well appointed. This is a University hotel used for conferences and academic staff but it does cater to the public really well. Breakfast options are really good but we're beginning to note that the options are reducing in choice. The dining room should be updated and the lighting is very stark.

Great Stay in a central location.

The staff were excellent. The room has a lovely comfy bed and a fab shower. There were only 2 small issues really. The first is there is no lift, which was not a problem for us but for anyone with difficulty walking it might be. Also , the room was very warm and had no air con….again not a big issue in September but might be more in June / July.

Staff are extremely helpful and friendly although they seemed to be short at breakfast. Had to ask for plates, bowls, butter, pastries etc. the two staff on duty were run off their feet yet managed to maintain a friendly service. Well done! Rooms and corridors very warm (great for winter) otherwise a nice stay.

An eclectic stay; not a “boutique” hotel, needs a good Manager to guide the enthusiastic staff. Breakfast was interesting (not enough staff) but dinner and service in the restaurant was very good. Bar had no ice as machine was broken, but common sense would have bought some in from a supermarket! Having said that, safe parking and good location for our stay.

Good standard hotel room with spacious shower. It’s worth opting for breakfast as you get a good one with plenty of choice. The car parking is a little bit tight as some of it is on the edge of the driveway. As it’s joined to the university campus, I imagine it’s much more busy and possibly noisier in term time. We visited in the holidays and it was reasonably quiet although people walking on the path by our window could have been an issue ( you could opt for the floors above but the downside is there is no lift). I would still recommend this hotel as it’s in a good area to visit Sheffield.

Another great stay

This was our 2nd stay at Halifax Hall and it didn't disappoint. Check in was sorted quickly by the friendly staff who provided us with all the information needed for our stay. The room was very spacious and clean. There was ample wardrobe space with a safe and 2 dressing gowns. The bathroom (shower) was spacious and well supplied with soap, shower gell and shampoo. The excellent Breakfast was served in the restaurant. A very pleasant stay.we will definitely return.
