Online pictures of the hotel depicting the courtyard, rooms, lobby area, etc. as really decent, according to the website, guests will “experience our old-world authenticity with contemporary upscale hospitality.” However, even after we booked a room at Villa 1565, I had serious doubts we’d be satisfied with the accommodations because the hotel is a 2-star. I was right — it was a disappointment. As soon as my family and I drove onto the property, I saw how somewhat rundown it looked. The lobby was subpar too. But after checking in, I had hopes that the room may not be so terrible, so my family and I went to the room we were given. My instincts were correct: Even though it was obvious the room was renovated, there were still signs that the accommodation was still shabby. Also, as soon as we unlocked the door, the odor in the room was so strong we could smell it right away. The furniture was torn up and the bathroom was not good either. We knew we couldn’t stay there so I went to the front desk to check out. The lady was nice enough to refund the deposit but couldn’t give us our reservation money back because we booked through a third party, which was Expedia in our case. So now we’re trying to get our money back by filing our insurance claim even if there’s a huge chance we may never see that money again per the policy TOC.

The pictures on internet are NO where near what the hotel looked like in person. We checked in at 3 office staff friendly we then went to dinner came back and inspected the sheets there was hair all in the sheets from prior guests the white sheets were dingy and looked like they have never been bleached. Thankfully we only live 30 minutes from where we were staying and decided to just go home. This was booked as a mothers day weekend with my mom and i was really embarrassed

Easy walk to historic centre

Easy walk into St Augustine. A hotel that is a bit tired and pretty basic but still costs a lot of money compared to others that we have stayed at. Slept well enough but breakfast was disappointing.

This little hoyel is so cute! Its close to everything, and literally right next door to the Fountain of Youth. The bed was comfy and the rooms were simple but nice, the bathroom was lovely too. Overall my experience was excellent. Room attendees are nice and check in on you to make sure you have everything you need. My ONLY gripe would be the shower head. The water pressure coming from it was so intense it actually kinda hurt lol! It couldnt be adjusted either so couldnt take a really long shower but like i said, its my only complaint really. Everything else makes up for it. Would highly recommend. =)
