Beautiful ocean views from the room with private patio. Loved cooling off in the infinity pool with the swim up bar while enjoying incredible views. We arrived very early so had breakfast at the restaurant while the hotel put a rush on our rooms. We very much appreciated the early check in plus the bottle of wine left in the room for us. This hotel is perched up on the hill away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tamarindo but an easy shuttle ride from the hotel to all of the restaurants, shopping and beach. We will be back. Thank you for going out of your way to accommodate us and for making our stay a memorable one!

The Wyndham was a perfect retreat from the bustle of Tamarindo. Every room has beautiful ocean views and the infinity pool was lovely. We didn’t have dinner at the restaurant, but we did have lunch and snacks and the food was tasty. The shuttle bus was a god send. I really couldn’t imagine walking to town in the heat and without sidewalks. We did have an issue with our room it was extremely mildewed & moldy when I complained to the front desk and they they responded that all rooms are a bit sticky because of the humidity. This was beyond. move us to a much better unit. In general, the rooms are a bit worn, but they are comfortable and the view is spectacular. walk to town because I’m gonna pick it as no snow bye-bye. The Beach club was crowded, but it was terrific to have a base for food, bathroom., I had an excellent massage by INGRID.

It’s difficult to rate travel experiences across different countries since each destination comes with its own unique challenges based on its economy. For example, air conditioning in Bali is pretty much non-existent. Similarly, in Costa Rica, it was hard to maintain a cool temperature since the AC turned off whenever we left the room. Again, totally understandable—the balcony breeze at times worked even better anyway. Expectations are always key! Cleanliness is also subjective—are the floors and bathroom clean? Yes. Are there perhaps water stains on the lamps? Sure, but you’re in Costa Rica, living Pura Vida. Who cares? That said, I absolutely loved this hotel—the location, food, ambiance, and staff were all fantastic. One minor inconvenience was that the room’s electricity was powered by keeping our key card plugged into the wall, but I also don’t expect hotels in Costa Rica to operate the same way as those in a thriving economy. Luxury is a matter of perspective. Regardless, I would definitely stay here again!! The breakfast buffet is amazing, and I highly recommend including it in your package to save money. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Tamarindo, yet elevated on a hill, offering better views than other hotels in the area. The rooms are quite small, so I wouldn’t recommend booking for four people. Overall, I’m giving this hotel 4 stars—5 stars for me means absolute perfection.

Great hotel with excellent staff.

The room was spacious and clean with the features we like, comfortable bed and pillows, hairdryer, refrigerator, clean bedding and towels upon request. The hotel isn’t on the beach but the ocean view from our balcony was spectacular. There is an hourly shuttle to town and the beach club. The only negative aspect was there were 40 loungers around the pool but only 5 umbrellas. Due to the angle of the sun, there is no shade anywhere during the hottest time of the day. The best part of the experience was the staff, from the shuttle drivers, chamber maids, front desk, restaurant and pool. They interacted with us and had a positive impact on our stay.

This is our fourth time at the Wyndham Tamarindo. I understand it is under new management, and although the setting is wonderful and the pool and the beach club are great, some of the services have deteriorated. The bus service to town and the beach is now every hour instead of every half hour. Sometimes, there are more people than seats, and individuals have to wait for 20 minutes for the bus to return for a pickup, or people are sitting in the aisles or sitting too many to a seat. This is NOT safe. We asked for a lamp for our bedside table. We never got one. One day we had to ask for clean towels as the room had not been cleaned.

Professional staff and excellent service

Staff was excellent. Front desk people were very well trained. Knowledgeable, efficient, professional. Breakfast was very good except last day (which seemed understaffed). Pool had great views. Easy to get into town.
