Taveuni Holiday Packages

The lush, rugged features of Fiji's Taveuni Island, one of the country's largest, make it an attractive destination for nature lovers and those looking to visit a rich landscape. Known as Fiji's Garden Island, Taveuni spreads over more than 440 square km, but is home to just eight small villages. Most of the island is a natural wonder, loaded with waterfalls tucked away into lush rainforests. From tropical fishing to diving and hiking, you can really take a walk on the wild side in this ecological hot spot, which feels like a remote jungle that’s still loaded with all the amenities you’d want on a holiday.

Things to Do in Taveuni

The main highlight of a holiday in Taveuni is its breathtaking natural beauty, so bring your camera and plenty of memory chips (or film, if you’re still into that). All across the island, you can find trails, parks and waterfalls to explore—you’ll feel just like James Cook mapping unknown lands. Tavoro Falls is an island highlight and is less than a kilometre or two to walk, depending on how high you go. Athletes—or would-be athletes—can tackle a more challenging hike on the Lavena Coastal Walk, located in Bourma National Heritage Park. The going can get tough, but once you arrive you'll be rewarded with a waterfall you can swim under! These are just two of dozens of ecologically interesting sites on the island; take some sturdy footwear and be prepared to explore. Now, unlike other tropical locales, Taveuni isn't known for its white, sandy beaches. But while it's the island's interior that attracts lots of tourist attention, you can still get plenty of vitamin “sea”; the diving is among the best that Fiji—and the world—has to offer.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

In Taveuni, you'll be treated to artisan markets where you can buy fresh food and locally made artwork and carvings. Wotif’s car hire options in Taveuni are an ideal way to explore the small stores that dot the island, and you can also drive to restaurants offering regional and international dishes. The locally caught seafood certainly won’t make you crabby, and is by far the most widespread dish on the island. The lack of tourists means that locals and guests alike frequent the restaurants and bars, creating a down-to-earth, authentic experience. Several are right on the beach, offering great views of the ocean.

Partygoers, however, won’t find a lot to do here; the bars and clubs in the resorts do offer some entertainment in the nightlife department, and you can always find a top spot to relax with a drink (or six). Taveuni holidays aren't really about the nightlife though; they're about getting outside and enjoying the clean, warm air of a peaceful island. And of course, bringing back enough photographs to drive your friends on social media bonkers for months.
