Don’t be put off by the backpacker property, the Lakeview rooms are terrific, very big with a great view and come with a mini fridge and kettle. The amenities are limited, just hand and body wash, and towels are limited, and no servicing, but for the price, the location is excellent, and the Lakeview rooms are totally separate from the backpacker dorms.

Do not stay here, unless you want to stay at a Backpackers hostel/lodge. This isn't a hotel, but is charging hotel money (we booked 6 months ahead). No privacy, paper-thin walls (snoring first night, early start noise 2nd night), tea/coffee - no milk, small fridge, no housekeeping, no other stuff. Balcony is shared with 3 other "Lake View Rooms" so, no privacy. View of the lake mostly obscured by large trees and long veranda roof, but a lovely lake it is! It is a 5-min walk to town centre.
So, not a hotel then!

Very well laid out communal cooking, dining and lounge areas. Perfect place for affordable accommodation that is across from the lake and minutes from the town centre. This is the perfect place for young adults upwards, they clearly state no young children. My private ensuite room was very clean and comfortable with lake views and a blacony area. The only thing about my room is they need to fix the front facing window so you can open it especially as the weather warms up

On first arriving you think you’ve checked in to a backpackers, there’s multiple options at this property and each one is satisfactory for the price, we loved our room which was Greenstone room overlooked the lake and was very comfortable, for the price compared to other properties on Lakeside 10 out of 10.

We loved Te Anau. The loft was great. Comfortable bed. Nice decor. The community kitchen was well stocked with supplies and clean. We appreciated being able to do laundry. The property was well-located and peaceful.
