The property was well kept and the furnishings were reminiscent of a different era which felt completely appropriate. While the finishes were nice the overhead shower did not always have cold water which was a bit inconvenient. Luckily the handheld shower faucet had both working cold and hot water. One major thing to note. I felt like this was a bit of a bait and switch. We were given a room in their annex property and were not even in the same building as pictured on the Expedia site. This meant no view at all and we could not even open our curtains as the windows faced an alley that had people walking right outside our windows which was noisy in morning and evening. I would have rated this property a bit lower but I will say it had the most comfortable bed and pillows of all our hotels in Italy.

The property is located close to the train station. If you willing to pay for private water taxi, you just step off their boat dock. The breakfast is good. The staff pretty nice. The room a bit small ok. It is a bit of walk to St Mark square but not bad.

Canal grande was a fine hotel, very friendly desk and staff. Room was excellent and good sized. Only downside was that our room was not connected to the main building of the hotel and was in a separate building with no reception desk.
