I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy with a hotel. In addition to the perfect, convenient location and good value, the staff was so kind and the room so charming and thoughtful. I wish I had more than one night!
Charming room; friendly staff and lovely breakfast.

A quirky room, clean, somewhat cramped....distance between mattress and floor wider than distance between corner of bed and drinks table. Bit of a squeeze...a larger person would have to roll over bed to get to window. Facilities good but personally no need for TV...it's York why stay in watching TV?
Very fun. Along city wall which is cool. Good food in pub as well. Would come back anytime

Fat Badger York
Really disappointed in accommodation. Paid just short of £400 for 2 nights definitely overpriced. The location is great. The bedrooms in need of refurbishment. No lift on property and rooms are across 3 floors which consisted 2 flights of stairs per floor so on third floor you have to climb six flights of stairs. Bed was clean not to bad on comfort. Very noisy from street below which wasnt rowdy people just folk talking while walking past woke up a few times during the night with the noise. Also bin men at 7am very noisy. I would not recommend the property and would not return. Definitely overpriced for what it is
Lovely time at this funky hotel. Great room, comfy bed. Lovely staff, and a fab secret garden! Recommend for a stay in York - very close to everything. Top Marks to The Fat Badger!
Had such a lovely time in York and the staff at the fat badger added to the whole experience. Would highly recomend to anyone planning a visit to the city as a place to stay . The staff are polite and friendly and the morning lady who does the breakfast shifts is amazing and had us laughing she was from leeds just so she knows its her we are talking about . The rooms were very clean with clean bedding every day our only regret is we didnt stay longer
Staff are friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Excellent licarion for walking the ity centre.

Food was amazing both in burger night & at breakfast. Beer garden wonderful. Hotel is a very old building in York, so you need to be prepared for narrow, squeaky stairs, sloping floors to room. The bed was comfy but the standard room is small & bathroom was just ok. There is a lot of outside noise from other bars on the street & traffic noise so the provided ear plugs were very welcome. Great for a short stay in an old world authentic inn - don’t expect a plush high end refurbished hotel but it all adds to the character of the place.
The Fat Badger is a small compact establishment right beside the city wall and a block from the Minster. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly.
The location is excellent and the inn full of character. The staff were all lovely and breakfast well presented and very good quality . The room was clean and pleasant, but as it was overlooked by both the City Walls and the beer garden I had to keep the curtains closed. Also the industrial extractor fan for the kitchen was right outside my window so there was a continuous noise from 7.00 until late into the evening. In a way, it was a plus because it was white noise that mitigated the noise from the beer garden. It is a pub with rooms, and there was quite a bit of noise from the bar below in the evening. But this didn't carry on past 11, and I was able to get to sleep quite easily without using the earplugs they thoughtfully provided. I'd happily stay there again.
Lovely place to stay. Bedroom was roomy and bed was comfortable. Was able to check in early. Breakfast was delicious. Walking distance to Minister is fab. Will definitely be staying here again.
Enjoyed a one night stay, room was nice and comfortable. Hotel is lovely with a hidden secret beer garden which is next to the historic wall. Had a fantastic full english breakfast - would recommend The Fat Badger.
Lovely old building in the heart of old York. Room was nice although I’ve slept in more comfortable beds- I prefer a firmer mattress. Breakfast was excellent with good quality products. May not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
