On arrival, we were unable to use valet parking as no spaces were available. When we entered our allocated room, there was already another guest in it. I contacted reception and was asked to wait on my floor for a new room. After 20 minutes with no update, I went back down to reception and was told a staff member had gone to my floor but they could not locate the staff member. Room service staff were good, however the food itself was average, and a $7 tray charge is applied per order. The room felt dated and the bathroom was worse. Overall, communication from reception was poor and did not meet my expectations.

Breakfast meal was atrocious ordered the big breakfast twice, it came without eggs and no toast or bread. The sausages were cold when I bit in to them, on closer inspection they were not cooked in the middle. Honestly McDonald’s would of been a better choice!

The hotel is advertised as 5 star but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was 5 star. Reception area, bar and restaurant all lovely. Rooms are a bit tired and dated. Mould on the grout in the shower. Shower flooded the bathroom each time. Pillows were horrendously uncomfortable but we requested replacements and were given contoured firmer pillows. Pool area is also a bit tired looking. The pool was advertised as heated but was freezing. No shade on the pool deck either which wasn’t great for a 34 degree day. Breakfast was great with a good selection which was regularly replenished. Staff in general were very friendly and helpful throughout. Location is great with a tram stop opposite, buses available a few minutes away, the markets behind the hotel and bars/restaurants close by, including Chinatown around the corner. I’d stay here again.

I booked a stay and had to cancel due to a genuine emergency. My booking was still two weeks away, and I never stayed at the hotel. Despite explaining the situation, I was refused a refund and lost $600. For a hotel of this standard, I expected more understanding and better customer service. I understand policies, but this experience felt extremely unfair and disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel due to their lack of empathy and poor handling of my situation
