Nice location but hotel really needs a refresh

The location is perfect and the property has great bones, but it is very tired and in great need of updating. The tiles in our bathroom were cracked and the windows were cracked and peeling. The window hardware fell apart and we could not close it. They offer breakfast with terrible coffee using paper plates and cheap plastic utensils. Honestly for $160/night I expected much better

In desperate need of update and maintenance

The innkeeper was very friendly and the grounds are pretty, but the room is in really old and poor condition. The water taps in the shower knocked so bad I thought they would explode, the bathroom sink had really leaky taps, the bathroom mirror is so old the black is coming through. Bathroom fan was loud and did nothing to clear humidity once we managed to get the shower to work. The whole place needs a paint job and a thorough cleaning. The window was so dirty you can barely see out it and the curtains don’t block the outside lights they leave on all night. The room furniture is old and dated and the tv is tiny. Not even a crappy picture on the wall. There was a pest control truck outside the hotel in the morning and when I asked what for he said insects around the property. Maybe, I don’t know, there was no bugs in our room The only thing I’ll give it is the beds and linen seemed fairly new and were actually quite comfortable. Not a place to relax .. it is a cheap place to sleep and not spend anytime in. We didn’t go for the continental breakfast - we had zero faith it would be good based on the condition of the room.

We arrived at 10 pm and were assigned our room very quickly. Parking was very close to our unit. The room was large with 2 double beds, 2 arm chairs a table, wardrobe and fridge. The beds were comfortable but a bit soft from use. Breakfast is offered in the morning, egg, sausage, cereal, coffee, tea, juice and toast. Sadly all that was available was paper plates and plastic cutlery and cups, even though we could see proper dishes on the shelves. The property seems like it needs some upgrades and updates.

I came back to the Ceilidh Lodge after I was impressed by my experience last year and was equally impressed this year. Staff are so kind and helpful. I love the view of the water from my room. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. Absolutely my first choice of places to stay in Baddeck.

Overall still a decent hotel

Although advertised on hotels.com, there was no breakfast offered in the offseason (not a deal breaker for us). Outside hotel looked great but rooms were dated. Lowest toilet ever seen.
